BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary celebration on August 8, 2026 did not go as fans expected. Many BLINKs felt let down by the small-scale event organized by YG Entertainment. The agency announced a meet-and-greet just two days before the anniversary, selecting only 40 paid Weverse members to attend a private gathering at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. Fans who could not attend expressed frustration over the limited access and the lack of proper celebration events.
The disappointment grew when the group’s Weverse livestream lasted only about 11 minutes, and the offline setup included simple printed posters and small flower bouquets. Many BLINKs took to social media to voice their unhappiness, with some even closing their fan accounts due to frustration.
Jennie Breaks Silence After Nine Days
While Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa had already apologized to fans, Jennie waited until August 17 to share her thoughts. She posted a long message on Weverse in both Korean and English, explaining why she took time to respond.
Jennie had a busy schedule during that period. She headlined Lollapalooza on August 1 and performed at Japan’s Summer Sonic festival on August 14 and 16. She wanted to finish her festival commitments before speaking to fans with a clear heart.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about our 10th anniversary and honestly, it made me really sad that I didn’t get the chance to properly talk to BLINKs and share how I was feeling. I wanted to wait until I finished my last festival that was already scheduled because I felt like I could come back and speak to you with a clearer heart.”
Jennie’s Apology: No Excuses, Only Gratitude
In her message, Jennie did not make excuses. She acknowledged that the 10th anniversary should have been a happy moment for everyone. Instead, some fans were left feeling disappointed, and she took full responsibility.
“Our 10th anniversary should have been a moment where we could just celebrate and be happy together, and I’m sorry that instead, some of you were left feeling disappointed. There’s really no excuse I can give for that.”
She also expressed deep gratitude toward BLINKs for their support over the past decade. She wrote that fans’ love helped the group grow and dream bigger. Jennie called BLINKs “one of the biggest blessings and greatest loves in BLACKPINK’s life”.
“BLINKs have always been one of the biggest blessings and greatest loves in BLACKPINK’s life. I’m sorry I couldn’t show you a better side of myself in that moment, and more than anything, I just want you to know how thankful I am for everything you’ve given us over these 10 years.”
Promise to Keep Growing
Jennie ended her letter with a promise to learn from this experience. She said she would not forget what she learned and would keep doing her best to give back the love fans have given her.
“I won’t forget everything I’ve learned and felt along the way, and I’ll keep growing and doing my best to give back all the love you’ve given me.”
She also wished BLACKPINK and BLINKs a happy 10th anniversary and closed with a simple but powerful message: “BLINK, I love you!”
Fans Praise Jennie’s Honesty
Many BLINKs appreciated Jennie’s sincere approach. Unlike some celebrities who shift blame to their agencies, Jennie did not make excuses or point fingers at YG Entertainment. She owned up to the disappointment and focused on gratitude.
Fans on social media praised her for taking personal accountability. Some noted that all four members—Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie—had now apologized, showing they genuinely care about their fans. Many supporters expressed that Jennie’s message felt genuine and came from the heart.
While some critics remained unhappy with the situation, the overall fan reaction toward Jennie was positive. Supporters defended her for waiting until she could speak with a clear mind rather than rushing out a statement.
What Caused the Disappointment?
The controversy began when YG Entertainment announced the 10th anniversary event with very short notice. Only 40 fans with paid Weverse memberships could attend the meet-and-greet at the National Museum of Korea. The event lasted less than 30 minutes, and fans stood without seats.
The livestream before the event also drew criticism. It lasted only about 11 minutes and featured simple decorations that fans called “cheap” and “disrespectful”. Many BLINKs had expected large-scale concerts or global events to mark the milestone.
Jisoo was the first member to address the issue during the Weverse livestream. She reportedly became emotional and apologized to fans. Rosé and Lisa later posted their own apology messages on social media. Jennie was the last member to speak, completing the group’s full response.

Jennie’s Festival Challenges
Jennie’s delay in responding also had to do with her performances at Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan. During her August 16 show in Osaka, she faced microphone and costume problems. She tried to stay calm but had to leave the stage temporarily. After fixing the issues, she returned and delivered a strong performance. She later shared that she was learning to accept imperfections and cherish even the hard moments.
