The popular true crime series is coming back with more real life mysteries and shocking cases.
CBS officially confirmed that Harlan Coben’s Final Twist will return for a second season. The announcement came as part of the network’s 2026-2027 fall schedule. The show will move to a new night and time slot.
The first season aired five episodes between January 7 and February 3, 2026 on Tuesday nights. The show averaged 2.37 million viewers per episode. The series features bestselling mystery writer Harlan Coben as host and guide.
Season 2 gets a new Monday night time slot
Harlan Coben’s Final Twist season 2 will air on Monday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. The show will follow two popular CBS dramas. FBI airs at 8 p.m., and CIA airs at 9 p.m. This creates a full night of crime and mystery programming on the network.
The time slot change moves the show from its original Tuesday night position. CBS made this decision to strengthen its Monday lineup. The network believes the crime show triple feature will attract consistent weekly viewers.
What to expect from the new episodes
Each one hour episode follows a simple but effective format. Harlan Coben walks viewers through real murder cases and high profile crimes. The show uses exclusive interviews with people connected to each case. It also shows never before seen archival materials and photos.
The official description states that each episode reveals hidden truths, deceptions and lies. The show focuses on cases where nothing appears as it seems at first. Coben’s background as a mystery writer helps him explain complex investigations in simple terms.
The same team returns for season 2
Harlan Coben will continue as host and executive producer. His son Ben Coben also executive produces through their company Final Twist Productions. Jeff Zimbalist returns as showrunner and executive producer for All Rise Films.
Stu Schreiberg executive produces for Triage Entertainment. Susan Zirinsky and Terence Wrong executive produce for See It Now Studios. Jess Philipps also serves as an executive producer. The production team stays largely the same from season one.
First season cases showed real shockers
The first season covered five different true crime stories:
- Billy & Billy Jean involved a couple murdered in their home. The investigation found a strange cyberbullying fight with neighbors and possible CIA involvement.
- Gambler’s Debt told the story of Anna Mae, a successful businesswoman found stabbed in her home. Detectives looked at casinos, hidden debts and a fugitive linked to her family.
- No Sign of Nancy followed a woman who vanished from her property while hosting a wedding. Investigators used new technology called “geo fencing” to find the person responsible.
- Who Killed Joy? covered the case of Joy Hibbs. People first thought she died in a fire, but police found she had been stabbed multiple times. The case went cold for 20 years until her son pushed to reopen it.
- Shot in the Dark looked at Ben Oxley, a 36 year old Hawaiian athlete shot while sleeping next to his wife. The wife said she never heard the gunshot.
