The love from thousands of fans inside a crowded convention center became too much for Pedro Pascal to handle. The actor, known for playing the masked bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, stood on stage at CCXP Mexico and struggled to keep his emotions in check. As the crowd screamed his name and cheered loudly, Pascal wiped his eyes and fought back tears. The moment quickly became the most talked-about event from the entire convention.

Pascal Joins Jon Favreau as Surprise Guest at Mexico City Convention

The CCXP Mexico event took place at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City from April 24 to 26. On the final day, Jon Favreau and Pedro Pascal appeared as unannounced guests on the Omelete Stage. They came to show fans an exclusive preview of their upcoming movie, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.

More than 2,000 fans packed the area to see the director and the actor. An animatronic version of Grogu, the adorable character fans call Baby Yoda, also joined them on stage. The crowd erupted the moment Pascal walked out wearing a green Mexico men’s World Cup 2026 soccer jersey. The small gesture of wearing the local team’s shirt made the Mexican audience connect with him instantly.

Favreau spoke about why the movie matters to both new viewers and longtime Star Wars fans.

“We wanted to introduce these characters to a new audience. But for the fans who have been there forever, like [this crowd], we wanted to evolve the relationship. It’s no longer about the Mandalorian rescuing Grogu. Now Grogu has leveled up. He’s a Mandalorian apprentice.”

Actor Opens Up About Childhood Dream of Seeing Star Wars on Big Screen

The emotional turning point came when Pascal started speaking about his personal history with the Star Wars franchise. He explained that he always loved watching movies in theaters as a child growing up in Chile.

“As soon as I saw this, I knew that it would be a new authorship of a streaming experience,” Pascal told the crowd. He then shared the deeper meaning behind his excitement for the movie.

“But I always had a dream in my heart that it would be on a big screen because that’s how I was developed as a child. I went to the movie theater so much with my family, and I saw the Star Wars movies on the big screen.”

After saying these words, the actor paused. He looked down and took off his glasses. The audience saw his eyes fill up with tears. Trying to hold back, Pascal wiped his face. But the crowd did not stay quiet. Instead of letting him struggle alone, the fans started chanting his name even louder. The support from the audience made the moment even more powerful.

Pascal then addressed the crowd in Spanish. He continued speaking through his emotions and at one point blew a kiss to the fans. Videos of the moment spread quickly across social media within hours of the event ending.

Film Marks First Star Wars Theatrical Release Since 2019

The Mandalorian and Grogu carries a lot of weight for Disney and Lucasfilm. It is the first Star Wars movie to hit theaters since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The film started as what was supposed to be a fourth season of the hit Disney+ series. After the 2023 labor disputes in Hollywood, the team decided to turn the project into a feature film instead.

The movie follows Din Djarin, the bounty hunter played by Pascal, and his small green apprentice Grogu. Together, they work to help defend the New Republic. Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White also star in the film. White plays a character named Rotta the Hutt.

Favreau directs the movie and co-wrote the script with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. The producing team includes Kathleen Kennedy, Ian Bryce, and Filoni. Ludwig Göransson, who created the music for the series, returns to compose the score for the movie.
