The final episode of The Boys has arrived on Prime Video, closing out five seasons of violent superhero satire. The series finale titled “Blood and Bone” started streaming on May 20, 2026, and gave fans the moment they have waited years to see. Homelander is dead. The path to his death required a team effort, a surprising power change, and Billy Butcher delivering the final blow.

Kimiko’s New Ability Removes Homelander’s Powers
Going into the final season, Homelander appeared unstoppable. He injected himself with a compound called V1, which made him nearly immortal and more unstable than ever. His plan was to declare himself a god on live television from the White House. But The Boys had their own secret weapon: Kimiko.
Earlier in the season, Frenchie performed dangerous experiments on Kimiko. He exposed her to radiation and used research connected to Soldier Boy. The result turned Kimiko into a supe-neutralizer, similar to Soldier Boy, giving her the ability to strip powers away from other superheroes. This ability became the only real threat to Homelander’s control.
During the White House battle, Kimiko unleashed a powerful atomic blast directly at Homelander. The blast drained his powers, leaving him completely ordinary, mortal, and scared. The explosion also accidentally stripped Butcher and Ryan, Homelander’s son, of their abilities.
Butcher Kills Homelander on Live Television
With Homelander powerless and begging for mercy, Billy Butcher stepped in to finish the job. The fight happened inside the Oval Office while cameras were still rolling, showing the entire scene to the world.
Homelander, for the first time in the series, was completely weak. He cried and pleaded with Butcher to let him live, offering to do anything. But Butcher had waited too long and lost too many people. He beat Homelander brutally, saying “for Frenchie,” before driving a crowbar through his skull. The final blow was delivered “for Becca,” Butcher’s late wife, completing a promise he made years ago.
As Homelander debased himself, telling Butcher he would do anything, pleading helplessly with him for mercy, Butcher plowed a crowbar through his head, ripping off the top of it and letting his brain spill out.
Ryan watched his father die in horror, unable to stop what was happening. The moment marked the end of Homelander’s frightening rule over America.
The Deep and Oh Father Also Die in the Final Episode
Homelander was not the only villain to fall in the last episode. The Deep met a strange end when Starlight lured him to a beach. After a fight, she threw him into the ocean. The sea creatures he had abused and used for years swarmed him, with an octopus tentacle going through his skull.
Oh Father, Homelander’s loyal media helper, also died during the White House attack. Mother’s Milk and Hughie worked together to kill him, using his own vocal powers against him with a bondage gag that caused his head to explode.
Frenchie had died earlier in the season, but his experiments paved the way for Kimiko’s power upgrade, which helped the team defeat Homelander.

Butcher’s Own Story Ends in Sadness
Even after killing Homelander, Butcher could not stop. He believed that as long as any superheroes existed, another tyrant like Homelander would eventually rise. He stole the supe-killing virus and went to Vought Tower, planning to release it through the building’s sprinkler system to kill all supes around the world.
Hughie followed him and tried to talk him down. The two fought, and Hughie shot Butcher. What Hughie did not realize was that Butcher had already decided to stop. Butcher died in Hughie’s arms, telling him that seeing Hughie do what he himself should have done finally reached him.
The series ended with a time skip. Starlight is pregnant and working in a tech store with Hughie. Stan Edgar returns as interim CEO of Vought, promising more oversight. The world moves on, but nothing is truly fixed.
