The crime thriller Nemesis dropped on Netflix on May 14, 2026, and viewers are already racing through all eight episodes. The show comes from Courtney A. Kemp, the creator of the hit series Power. Matthew Law plays LAPD detective Isaiah Stiles, while Y’lan Noel stars as criminal mastermind Coltrane Wilder. The finale left many stories unfinished, so everyone is asking the same question.
Netflix Has Not Renewed Nemesis for Season 2 Yet
As of May 27, 2026, Netflix has not officially said yes or no to a second season. The streaming platform usually takes a few weeks to look at viewership numbers. They check how many people finished all episodes and how the show performs in different countries. Nemesis has already appeared in the Top 10 across multiple regions, which is a good sign. But fans will have to wait a bit longer for an official announcement.
Courtney A. Kemp Already Has a Season 2 Plan
Kemp is not waiting around. She shared during an Instagram Live session that the team has a “Season 2 blueprint” ready to go. When a fan asked if she had plans for more episodes, she gave a clear answer.
“Do I have plans for a second season of Nemesis? Yeah. We do. We are working on it. But never tell anybody what you need to get paid.” – Courtney A. Kemp on Instagram Live
Kemp also told The Hollywood Reporter that Netflix asked her to wrap up the first season in a way that would not need another one. She refused.
“Netflix asked us to wrap it in a place where you wouldn’t need a second season, and I was like, ‘Bet, we’re not doing that.’ We knew that we did not want Coltrane to get caught. We didn’t want it to feel like you did all this for nothing.” – Courtney A. Kemp
She learned from her time working on Power. When she killed off the main character Ghost, fans had strong reactions. She realized that audiences get attached to characters, so she wanted to give both Stiles and Wilder their proper due by the end.
What Could Happen in Nemesis Season 2
The first season finale left several big questions unanswered. Coltrane Wilder escaped capture, but he got separated from his pregnant wife Ebony (Cleopatra Coleman). She was secretly taken out of the hospital during all the chaos. A potential second season would likely follow Wilder trying to find her while avoiding the cartel and the cops.
Isaiah Stiles lost his badge after failing to catch Wilder. His marriage to Candace (Gabrielle Dennis) is falling apart. He also made deals with the cartel that could come back to hurt him. His life is basically in ruins, and season 2 could show how far he is willing to go to fix things.
Then there is Noah Stiles (Cedric Joe), Isaiah’s teenage son. He watched his grandfather get killed and got shot himself. Kemp hinted that Noah’s trauma could push him down a darker path. That could become a major storyline if the show returns.
Y’lan Noel Wants More Danger and Action
The cast is also ready for another round. Y’lan Noel spoke to PEOPLE about what he hopes to see in a second season.
“I hope it’s more danger and more action. Watching the first half reminded me how far the story goes, and I can’t wait to see how much further these two men can take this rivalry.” – Y’lan Noel
He also talked about what makes the show work. The respect between the two main characters is what drives the whole story. Noel said that fans should keep watching because the show deserves attention on a global scale.
“I think this story and this world that Courtney and Tani created deserve conversations. And they deserve it on the global scale that Netflix is able to give it.” – Y’lan Noel

Other returning faces could include Tre Hall as Darren “Stro” Stroman, Domenick Lombardozzi as Dave Cerullo, and Jonnie “Dumbfoundead” Park as Chris Choi.
When Could Season 2 Arrive
There is no release date because the show has not been renewed yet. The first season was announced in March 2025 and came out just over a year later. If Netflix acts fast, a possible second season could arrive around mid-2027. But that is only a guess. Everything depends on when and if the streamer makes it official.
For now, all eight episodes of Nemesis season 1 are streaming on Netflix in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, and worldwide.
