The team behind Stranger Things is not slowing down. Matt and Ross Duffer have just released their new sci-fi series The Boroughs on Netflix, and fans are already looking for what comes next from their production company, Upside Down Pictures.

Following the massive success of the Stranger Things finale, the Duffer Brothers have been busy building a collection of new shows across horror, animation, and supernatural thrillers. With The Boroughs now streaming and climbing the charts, here is the complete breakdown of every confirmed Duffer Brothers project you can watch right now and what is already available on the platform.

‘The Boroughs’ Takes Netflix Top Spot Right After Release

The Boroughs officially arrived on May 21, 2026. The eight-episode drama is set in a retirement community in the New Mexico desert. A group of older residents must team up to stop a monster from stealing their time.

The numbers are already strong. Within less than a week of release, The Boroughs jumped to number one on Netflix’s UK chart. It also took the top spot for TV series in the United States. Viewers are connecting with the show’s mix of mystery and sci-fi twists.

The cast includes Alfred Molina as Sam, a grieving widower who moves into the community. Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters, and Denis O’Hare also star in the series. The show comes from creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who worked on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The Duffer Brothers serve as executive producers.

One reviewer called the series “thrilling” with “excellently executed twists”. The show starts with a brutal murder by an otherworldly creature. What looks like a simple mystery slowly turns into a larger sci-fi story about time and loss.

‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen’ Premiered in March 2026

Before The Boroughs dropped, the Duffer Brothers released Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen on March 26, 2026. This atmospheric horror series follows a bride and groom during the week leading up to their wedding. And as the title suggests, things do not go well.

The show comes from creator and showrunner Haley Z. Boston. The Duffer Brothers said they were “knocked flat” when they first read Boston’s script. They described her writing as “twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley”.

“She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just … very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show.” – The Duffer Brothers

The cast includes Camila Morrone as the bride, Adam DiMarco as the groom, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Ted Levine. The show is not about jump scares. Boston described the tone as “unsettling, getting-under-your-skin dread” mixed with character-focused storytelling.

This marked the first Duffer Brothers project to come out after the Stranger Things finale on New Year’s Eve.

‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ Brings Animation to Hawkins

Animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 came out on April 23, 2026. The show takes place in the winter of 1985, between Stranger Things Season 2 and Season 3. The original characters return to fight new monsters and solve another paranormal mystery.

Eric Robles serves as showrunner. The Duffer Brothers explained that animation lets the team do things live-action cannot. Ross Duffer said, “With animation, there are really no limits. Eric and his team can just go wild — and they have”.

Voice actors include Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, and Luca Diaz in a role. Jeremy Jordan, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips also lend their voices.

This series gives fans one more trip back to Hawkins with the characters they know, but in a completely new visual style.

An Untitled ‘Stranger Things’ Live-Action Spinoff Is Coming

The Duffer Brothers are also working on an untitled live-action Stranger Things spinoff. This show will move away from Hawkins and introduce a new cast, new town, and new storyline. But it will still connect to the larger Upside Down mythology.

The brothers have ruled out an anthology format. Instead, the spinoff will follow a single group of characters through a continuous story. Finn Wolfhard, who played Mike Wheeler, previously said the planned series feels similar in tone to Twin Peaks. It could explore labs and supernatural activity beyond what fans have seen.

No casting details, production dates, or release information have been announced yet. But the project is officially in development at Netflix.

Duffer Brothers Are Moving to Paramount for Future Projects

Recent reports confirm that the Duffer Brothers have signed a multi-year deal with Paramount. This marks a major move beyond Netflix after the end of the Stranger Things era.

While Paramount has not shared exact details about the brothers’ first project under the new deal, the move suggests they are expanding into more film and TV projects across different studios. The transition is expected to happen after their current Netflix commitments wrap up.

This does not mean the Duffers are leaving Stranger Things behind entirely. They will stay involved with the spinoff and other projects still in development at Netflix. The four-year exclusive deal with Paramount covers feature films, television, and streaming projects.

‘Death Note’ and ‘The Talisman’ Updates for Duffer Brothers Fans

Netflix previously announced that the Duffer Brothers would produce a new live-action adaptation of the manga Death Note. However, there have been no recent development updates on this project.

As for Stephen King’s The Talisman, the project is officially dead at Netflix. Ross Duffer told CBR, “Sadly, Talisman is no longer at Netflix, so we’re not involved”. Fans hoping to see the Duffers adapt King’s novel will have to wait for any possible future revival at another studio.

Another project called The Savage, Noble Death of Babs Dionne is also in development at Netflix. The crime thriller follows a Franco-American grandmother who runs the drug trade in a small Maine town. It is based on Ron Currie’s novel.
