Actor Tom Hardy will return for a potential third season of the Paramount+ crime drama MobLand, with the show’s core cast of Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan staying together.
The news comes after reports of behind-the-scenes friction that put Hardy’s future on the show in doubt. Sources confirm a recent meeting in London helped fix the problems.
Paramount+ has not officially renewed MobLand for Season 3 yet. However, a writers room has reportedly been set up. The show is expected to get a renewal because it became the streamer’s second-biggest original series launch, only behind Landman.
Behind-the-Scenes Issues Resolved
The problems between Hardy and the show’s team happened during the production of Season 2. Reports in May 2026 said Hardy and showrunner Jez Butterworth had a conflict that made it hard for them to work together. There were claims about Hardy arriving late to set and changing dialogue.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Hardy “refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time.” Another source called this a “power play” and said keeping Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren waiting was risky.
Production on Season 2 finished in March 2026. A later meeting in London between Hardy, Jez Butterworth, and executive producer David Glasser helped fix the situation. MobLand executive producer Guy Ritchie also helped in making peace.
Helen Mirren’s Public Support
Helen Mirren gave her public support to Tom Hardy during the time of the reported issues. She posted a picture of Hardy on Instagram with the message “Love you now and always, Helen.”
At the Taormina Film Festival, Mirren made it clear she supports Hardy and wants him back on the show. She said, “Different actors have different processes. I’ve learned over the years that some people get things fast and other people took time. I love Tom โ I think he’s the most amazing actor. I’ve always loved him on screen. I think he’s absolutely remarkable. So my support of him is genuine.”
She also told Variety she would work with him again “in a f***ing heartbeat.”

Season 3 Renewal and Cast
While Paramount+ has not yet renewed MobLand for Season 3, the show’s performance makes it very likely. Tom Hardy reportedly has a three-year contract from the start of the show, making his return contractually easy. The third season is being written to focus on Hardy’s Harry, Mirren’s Maeve, and Brosnan’s Conrad.
Helen Mirren recently showed her support for the show’s core trio staying together. She said, “As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with whatever, however anyone gets there.”
The show’s lead cast also includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, and Lara Pulver. Season 2 is expected to air later in 2026.
