The Unique Story of Soara and the House of Monsters
The manga presents a fresh take on the fantasy genre. The story follows Soara, a young orphan raised by knights to fight monsters. She trained her whole life for battle. But by the time she is ready to join the fight, peace has been declared with the monsters. Her skills are no longer needed.
Soara then meets Kirik, a dwarf who leads a group called the Monster Architects. Instead of fighting monsters, she starts working with Kirik to build comfortable homes for them. She finds a new purpose in construction and learns to live alongside the creatures she was trained to hate.
Manga Origins and Creator Reaction
Hidenori Yamaji started the manga on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website in November 2021. The English version is published by Seven Seas Entertainment. The seventh volume of the manga will be released in Japan on August 10, 2026.
Yamaji created a special illustration to celebrate the anime announcement. He said that watching the anime staff build the project together reminded him of Soara and Kirik working side by side to construct homes. He believes the adaptation will become a wonderful “house” in its own right.

The Appeal of a Non-Traditional Fantasy
Soara and the House of Monsters stands out from typical fantasy anime. Many fantasy series focus on wars and grand battles. This series puts the spotlight on building homes and forming bonds between different species. It replaces conflict with collaboration. The story is about a warrior who learns to build instead of destroy. This core concept has attracted attention from fans looking for a more relaxed and meaningful story in the fantasy genre.
