His family confirmed he is being held under Florida’s Baker Act, a law that allows for temporary involuntary hospitalization for mental health crises.
Emergency services were called to Hilton’s Miami-area home on August 4, 2026, after viewers watching his TikTok livestream reported seeing him harm himself. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man “livestreaming acts of self-harm” on social media. Deputies safely recovered Hilton and transported him to a local hospital for medical attention.
Family Confirms Serious But Stable Condition and Upcoming Surgery
Hilton’s family released an official statement on his website, PerezHilton.com, on August 8, providing a clear update on his health. The statement confirmed that Hilton’s condition remains serious but stable. He suffered significant blood loss and additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.

The family also shared that Hilton was able to spend time with his mother and sister on August 7. His three children are safe and being cared for by immediate family members.
Hilton Held Under Florida’s Baker Act
The family’s statement confirmed that Hilton remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act. This state law allows family members, doctors, law enforcement, or other professionals to seek emergency mental health services for a person who may be a danger to themselves or others. Under the Baker Act, a person can be held involuntarily for up to 72 hours for evaluation and treatment.

However, a moderator error caused a delay in removing the stream. TikTok alerted law enforcement to the situation, closed several subsequent streams within 90 seconds, and banned Hilton’s account.
Previous Health Issues
This hospitalization follows another serious health episode for Hilton earlier in 2026. In March, he spent several weeks in the hospital after developing an ulcer, perforation, and sepsis. He underwent laparoscopic surgery at that time. Months later, he returned to his Miami hometown with his mother and three children.

Chris Booker, who has co-hosted The Perez Hilton Podcast with Hilton since 2015, shared his support on Instagram. Booker described the situation as “unimaginable” and asked people to respect the family’s wishes for privacy.
