What Happens in Season 2 of Outlander Blood of My Blood
The 1715 Jacobite Rising splits the Scottish Highlands in two, forcing every clan to choose a side. Brian Fraser and his cousin Murtagh must return to Castle Leathers and pledge to fight beside Brian’s father, the scheming Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat. Ellen MacKenzie reluctantly returns to Castle Leoch, where her brothers Colum and Dougal are feuding over how to respond to the call to arms. She devises a plan to protect Clan MacKenzie from the Crown, no matter how the uprising ends.
Across time, Henry and Julia Beauchamp are finally reunited after their unexpected journey back in time left them lost and separated. They are ready to return to their own time and to their daughter, Claire. Their plan goes badly wrong, and the couple is parted once again. Separated from his love and hope, Henry must grapple with his mental health as he fights to find his way back to Julia, who is forced to return to Castle Leathers and face her sinister husband, Lord Lovat.
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told Entertainment Weekly that the war will be a major event affecting everyone:
“It’s a historic event, so it’s going to have a huge effect on everybody’s life going forward throughout the season, because there will be a battle. Once we get to the battle, what happens after the battle — the ramifications of that — will have major effects on everybody involved. It is a huge fulcrum of the season.”
