Former ADOR CEO and creative force behind NewJeans, Min Hee Jin, recently made her first public appearance since stepping down from her role. She spoke candidly about personal challenges and her creative philosophy during a talk concert in Seoul.
Appearance at “Women Who Became a Genre” Talk Event
On December 6, Min Hee Jin attended the “Women Who Became a Genre” talk concert organized by Hanwha General Insurance and Folin at Dreamplus Gangnam in Seocho-gu, Seoul. During her guest lecture, she opened up about the trials she has faced throughout her career and after leaving ADOR.
Min shared, “Living with conviction isn’t easy. I face a lot of criticism. People fabricate things to attack me, but I can’t keep saying, ‘That’s a lie,’ every day.” Emphasizing perseverance, she said, “You must bear the injustice and prove yourself through your work, actions, and true self.”
Min Hee Jin on Handling Controversies
Min touched on the ongoing controversies surrounding HYBE, ADOR, and its affiliated labels, which have placed her under intense scrutiny. She remarked, “Unthinkable lies surface, and if I clarify, they say I clarified; if I deny, they say I denied. I can confidently say I’m in a worse place than you might imagine.”
Reiterating her faith in time and truth, she said, “At my first press conference, I mentioned that people believe what they want to believe. Over time, people will know whose words were true.” Expressing her hopes for resolution, Min added, “I hope the lawsuits end quickly and everything gets resolved, but time doesn’t flow as I wish. It’s unbearably painful, but I must focus on the essence of things.”
NewJeans Declares Independence
The lecture followed a significant announcement from NewJeans, the globally popular girl group formerly managed by ADOR. On November 28, the group held an emergency press conference, revealing the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR effective midnight on November 29. The members expressed their intention to continue collaborating closely with Min Hee Jin, signaling strong loyalty to their mentor.
Min Hee Jin’s Philosophy on Work
Min also delved into her thoughts on the value of work and authenticity. “If your words sound great but what you deliver is disappointing, those words will mean nothing. In the end, you have to prove yourself with results. That’s why I think work is so precious,” she said, reflecting on her approach to creative endeavors.
As Min Hee Jin moves forward in her career, her dedication to her vision and commitment to her artistry remain at the forefront.
