Dame Dash Refuses to Discuss $800,000 Debt, Calls Men Who Talk About It "Gay"

Dame Dash, the former Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder, has finally spoken about the $800,000 he owes filmmaker Josh Webber. Instead of addressing the debt directly, Dash criticized men who discuss his financial troubles, calling them “gay.”

The Legal Battle Over $800,000

The conflict started in 2019 when Josh Webber sued Dash for copyright infringement and defamation. Webber worked with Dash on the film Dear Frank, but Dash was removed from the project for alleged improper behavior. Dash later promoted the movie under a different title, The List, leading to the lawsuit.

In 2022, a court ordered Dash to pay $800,000 in damages to Webber. Despite the ruling, Dash avoided paying, forcing Webber to take further legal action.

Dashโ€™s Controversial Comments

During an appearance on The Art of Dialogue podcast on July 26, 2025, Dash was asked about the debt. Instead of giving a direct answer, he made shocking remarks:

โ€œAt the end of the day, people celebrating my bills is an honor. To me, any man who talks about another manโ€™s pockets, regardless, is gay. Thereโ€™s no reason for a man to be worried about another man’s pockets unless he owes him money.โ€

Dash continued:

โ€œA woman, I can understand because sheโ€™s wondering how sheโ€™s going to get taken care of. Another man worrying about another manโ€™s bills and pockets, itโ€™s like worrying about whatโ€™s behind that man’s zipper. So Iโ€™m not answering any man asking me about my bread, because I don’t consider it the most masculine thing.โ€

More Legal Trouble: A $4 Million Defamation Case

Dashโ€™s financial problems worsened in 2024 when Webber filed another lawsuit. This time, Webber accused Dash of defamation after Dash spoke about their legal battle on the Earn Your Leisure podcast.

Webber claimed Dashโ€™s comments cost him a $4 million directing job with Billy Bob Thornton. Rebel Entertainment, the company behind the project, reportedly dropped Webber due to the controversy.

In March 2025, a judge ordered Dash to pay $4 million in damages to Webber. If Dash fails to comply, he must appear in court on July 31, 2025.

Dash Forced to Give Up Businesses

To cover his debts, Dash has been ordered to surrender ownership of multiple companies, including:

  • Dash Films Inc.
  • Bluroc LLC
  • Blakroc LLC
  • 1996 Songs LLC
  • Lebanon Improvements LLC

A judge also ruled that Dash must hand over the rights to his films, such as Welcome to Blackroc, Honor Up, and We Went to China.

Last year, Dashโ€™s 33.3% stake in Roc-A-Fella Records was auctioned off for $1 million. Reports say he still owes $8.7 million in back taxes and $193,000 in child support.

50 Cent Mocks Dashโ€™s Financial Struggles

Rapper 50 Cent recently mocked Dash for his money problems. He recalled how Dash once criticized his $1 million record deal, saying it was “no money.”

โ€œThe only person that pointed out $1 million was no money was Damon Dash, and he has no money now,โ€ 50 Cent said.

Despite his financial troubles, Dash remains defiant. In a past interview, he said:

โ€œThereโ€™s a positive to find in every situation, but if you can only see the negative, thatโ€™s exactly where youโ€™ll stay. I will never stay in the negative.โ€
