High Potential season 2 is bringing back fan-favorite characters while introducing fresh faces to the mix. The crime drama, starring Kaitlin Olson as the brilliant but unconventional consultant Morgan Gillory, has released its first official cast portraits, giving fans a peek at whatโ€™s coming next. The new season premieres on September 16, 2025, on ABC, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.

Returning Cast And New Additions

The showโ€™s Instagram page shared a first-look poster on August 14, 2025, confirming that most of the main cast is returning. Alongside Kaitlin Olson, actors Daniel Sunjata (Detective Adam Karadec), Judy Reyes (Captain Selena Soto), Javicia Leslie (Daphne Forrester), Deniz Akdeniz (Lev “Oz” Ozdil), Amirah Johnson (Ava Sinquerra), and Matthew Lamb (Elliot Radovic) will reprise their roles.

Joining them is Steve Howey, who plays Jesse Wagner, the precinctโ€™s new captain. Described as charming and stylish, Wagner is a political strategist who enjoys thinking outside the boxโ€”much like Morgan. His arrival is expected to shake up the team dynamics.

“Heโ€™s a guy who can launch a million fundraisers with his smile, he has disruptor tenacity and likes thinking outside the box just like their all-star consultant Morgan,” said an ABC description of Howeyโ€™s character.

Additionally, Mekhi Phifer has been cast in a recurring role as a character involved in major crimes, though details remain under wraps. David Giuntoli, who played a mysterious villain in season 1, will also return, continuing the serialized mystery that left fans on edge.

What To Expect In Season 2

Season 1 ended with major cliffhangers, including the revelation that Morganโ€™s missing husband, Roman, is still alive. The new season will explore his disappearance further while also diving into the unresolved tension between Morgan and Karadec.

Showrunner Todd Harthan hinted at deeper character development for the supporting cast, including more backstory for Captain Soto and Daphne, who was underused in the first season.

“We havenโ€™t really scratched the surface of some of those other characters in the ensemble. We havenโ€™t gone home with a lot of them. We havenโ€™t dug into their backstories,” Harthan told Us Weekly.

Season 2 will also expand to 18 episodes, up from 13 in the first season, allowing for more standalone cases alongside the ongoing serialized mystery.

Fan Reactions And Anticipation

Fans have been eagerly discussing the new cast photos and what they might mean for the upcoming season. Many are excited to see how Steve Howeyโ€™s character will interact with Morgan, while others are hoping for more screen time for Javicia Leslieโ€™s Daphne, who played a key role in the season 1 finale.

“Daphne and Oz didnโ€™t have much to do in the first season, but following the events of the season 1 finale, the two characters will have much more storyline to work with in season 2,” ScreenRant reported.

With the premiere just weeks away, High Potential season 2 is shaping up to be bigger and more intense than ever.
