New stills from the upcoming KBS2 drama Last Summer show Lee Jae Wook and Choi Sung Eun in an emotionally charged reunion after two years apart. The images highlight both tension and tender moments between their characters, childhood friends with a complicated past.

Story of Last Summer

Last Summer is a romance drama centered around childhood friends who rediscover the hidden truth about their first love. The story compares this revelation to opening a Pandora’s box. Lee Jae Wook plays Baek Do Ha, a gifted architect who leads the firm Pluto Atelier. He is recognized for winning the Pritzker Architecture Prize during his university years. Choi Sung Eun plays Song Ha Kyung, a government official working in the architecture department. She has always wanted to leave her hometown, Patan. The two shared a 17-year friendship, but a fateful incident two years ago drove them apart. Do Ha returns to Patan for unknown reasons, leading to their unexpected reunion.

The Released Stills

The newly released images capture various moments between Do Ha and Ha Kyung. One still shows them sitting on opposite ends of a sofa, looking stiff and awkward. This reflects the emotional distance between them after their separation. Another still shows them locking eyes in silence, suggesting unspoken tension and complicated feelings. There are also flashback scenes where they stand close to each other, blushing. These moments hint at a softer, more romantic past. The production team aims to show a range of emotions, from love-hate bickering to heart-fluttering romance.

Lee Jae Wook’s Dual Roles

Lee Jae Wook plays dual roles in the drama. He portrays both Baek Do Ha and his twin brother, Baek Do Young. After their parents’ divorce, Do Young stayed in Korea, while Do Ha moved to the United States. Do Ha only returned to Korea during summer vacations, staying for 21 days each time. He lived in a duplex built by his father, alongside Do Young and Ha Kyung. Do Ha is described as having a fighter-like personality, strategic and patient, but he can also become impulsive. His professional success contrasts with his personal struggles, especially with Ha Kyung.

Choi Sung Eun’s Role

Choi Sung Eun plays Song Ha Kyung, who grew up bickering with Do Ha during his summer visits. Over time, she developed feelings for him but never confessed because his visits were too short. As an adult, she becomes a civil servant in architecture. She is shocked to learn about a troubling incident from the brothers’ past, which adds to the drama’s conflict.

Fan Reactions and Comments

Fans have expressed excitement about the drama online. One fan commented, “You mean we will get TWO Lee Jae Wooks??? Oh, yes!” referring to his dual roles. Another said, “The BTS clips look quite promising,” showing anticipation for the chemistry between the leads. However, some fans are cautious about the creative team behind the project, hoping the drama lives up to expectations.

Poster Details and Other Cast

Posters for Last Summer have also been released. In one poster, Lee Jae Wook as Do Ha wears a casual shirt and glasses. The caption reads, “Even if you hate me, I’m going to like you this summer,” showing his determined pursuit of Ha Kyung. Choi Sung Eun as Ha Kyung smiles sweetly, with the caption, “My summer is always the season when guests come to visit,” pointing to Do Ha’s brief annual visits. Another character, Seo Soo Hyuk, played by Kim Gun Woo, is an appellate lawyer with a 99% success rate. His poster caption says, “If you stay with me, you can be the Song Ha Kyung you are now,” suggesting a possible love triangle.
