In the competitive world of Korean television dramas, MBC’s “To The Moon” saw a significant boost in viewership this week, nearly doubling its audience numbers. The surge comes as JTBC’s romance drama “My Youth” prepares to air its last two episodes next week, maintaining steady ratings in its final stretch.
According to Nielsen Korea, the October 3 episode of “To The Moon” achieved an average nationwide rating of 2.0 percent. This marks a substantial increase from the 1.2 percent rating the drama recorded the previous Saturday. The show tells the story of three women from humble backgrounds who, struggling to live on their salaries alone, turn to cryptocurrency investing.
“To The Moon” Approaches Key Story Moments
The recent episode featured a meaningful transformation for character Jung Da Hae, played by Lee Sun Bin. In newly released stills, Da Hae undergoes a dramatic makeover with help from her friends Kang Eun Sang (Ra Mi Ran) and Kim Ji Song (Jo Aram). She trades her usual style for an elegant dress and statement earrings, appearing somewhat awkward as she views her new reflection.
The production team highlighted that this change represents more than just physical appearance. “Da Hae’s makeover is not merely a transformation in her physical appearance, but also a moment connected to her inner growth” the team explained. They also promised more heartwarming chemistry between the trio of friends in upcoming episodes.
“My Youth” Prepares for Emotional Conclusion
Meanwhile, JTBC’s “My Youth” is heading toward its conclusion with just two episodes remaining. The drama, starring Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee, earned average nationwide ratings of 1.7 percent and 2.0 percent for its latest episodes as it approaches the finale.
The series depicts the story of Sunwoo Hae (Song Joong Ki), who begins living an ordinary life later than most people, and Sung Je Yeon (Chun Woo Hee), who must shatter the peace of her first love for her own success. Recent episodes took an emotional turn when Sunwoo Hae broke up with Sung Je Yeon after revealing he was suffering from an incurable illness.
Newly released stills suggest the couple may find strength together despite challenges. Photos show Sung Je Yeon leaning on Sunwoo Hae’s shoulder with a warm smile, the couple embracing during a romantic night at home, and Sunwoo Hae reading a letter from Sung Je Yeon with mixed emotions. A particularly touching image captures them looking blissful as they clasp hands during the first snow.
The production team teased what viewers can expect from the final episodes: “Episodes 9 and 10 will depict the poignant promise between Sunwoo Hae and Sung Je Yeon. The new choice Sunwoo Hae makes to not lose Sung Je Yeon, and their promise for a happy future, will make viewers’ hearts ache and flutter.”
Fashion and Style in “My Youth”
Beyond the emotional storyline, “My Youth” has also gained attention for its relatable fashion. Chun Woo Hee’s character showcases comfortable yet stylish outfits throughout the series. Her wardrobe includes business casual looks with baggy gray trousers and white blouses, city chic styles featuring blue jeans with beige jackets, and relaxed sleepwear with black sweatshirts.
The next episode of “To The Moon” will air on October 3 at 9:50 p.m. KST, while the final episodes of “My Youth” will air consecutively starting at 8:50 p.m. KST. International viewers can watch “My Youth” with subtitles on Viki.
