The animated show Rick and Morty is leaving Netflix in many parts of the world. This includes all seven seasons available on the platform in the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, and other countries. For viewers in these places, the show will be gone from Netflix by December 31, 2025.
This change is part of a larger move by Warner Bros. Discovery to bring its popular shows back to its own streaming service, HBO Max. The good news is that the show is not ending, and new episodes from Season 8 are already available to stream on other platforms.
Where Is Rick and Morty Leaving Netflix?
The removal of Rick and Morty from Netflix is happening on two specific dates and affects a precise list of countries.
- December 30, 2025: The show leaves Netflix in Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, South Africa, South Korea, and Turkey.
- December 31, 2025: All seven seasons leave Netflix UK.
If you live in one of these countries, you will no longer be able to watch any episodes of the show on Netflix after these dates.
Why Is Rick and Morty Being Removed?
The main reason for this change is licensing. Rick and Morty is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that also owns the Adult Swim channel where the show first airs and the HBO Max streaming service.
For years, Warner Bros. licensed the show to Netflix in many countries outside of North America. Now, with the streaming industry changing, big studios like Warner Bros. want to keep their most popular shows on their own platforms to attract more subscribers. This strategy means pulling back shows like Rick and Morty, Friends, and The Big Bang Theory from other services.
With Warner Bros. up for sale, itโs hard to determine what Warner will do in the meantimeโฆ Itโs more than likely that once licensing runs out, the majority of Warner titles will return to HBO Max as exclusives.
Where to Watch Rick and Morty After It Leaves Netflix
You have several options to keep watching the adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty. The right platform for you depends on which country you are in.
For Viewers in the United States and Canada
If you are in North America, Rick and Morty has never been on Netflix. The primary streaming homes for the show are:
- HBO Max: This is the main streaming service for the show. All eight seasons are available to stream here.
- Hulu: The show is also available to stream on Hulu.
New episodes from the latest seasons continue to premiere on the Adult Swim television channel and are added to HBO Max shortly after.
For Viewers in Countries Losing Netflix Access
If you are in the UK, India, Germany, Italy, or other affected countries, you will need to switch to a new service starting in 2026. The main alternative will be HBO Max, where the show is expected to become exclusive. You can also often buy or rent individual seasons or episodes through digital stores like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, or Google Play.
For Viewers in Other Regions
The show is not leaving Netflix everywhere. If you live in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Poland, Switzerland, or several other countries, Rick and Morty will remain available on your local Netflix library for now.
The Show Continues with New Seasons and a Spin-off
The departure from Netflix is just a change in where you watch, not the end of the show. Season 8 of Rick and Morty premiered in May 2025. The show has already been renewed through to Season 12, meaning at least four more seasons are on the way. Season 9 is expected to arrive around Fall 2026.
Furthermore, a new animated spin-off series has been announced. Titled President Curtis, it will focus on the character of President Andre Curtis, voiced by Keith David. David announced the project himself in a social media video, saying, “Citizens of America, your favorite Commander in Chief is here with a special announcementโฆ Weโre diving deep into the Oval Office, but not the one youโre used to”.
The voice cast for the main series also continues with Ian Cardoni as Rick and Harry Belden as Morty, who took over the roles after the departure of original co-creator Justin Roiland.
