Netflix has locked in a September 3, 2026 premiere date for The Gentlemen Season 2, and the first teaser trailer shows Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass leaving their English estate behind for the dangerous world of Italian organized crime. The eight-episode second season picks up one year after the events of Season 1, with the Duke of Halstead expanding his criminal operations across borders. Executive producer and co-writer Matthew Read says Eddie has become “extremely aspirational” and wants more power. That ambition leads him straight into a war with the Italian mafia.
Creator Guy Ritchie returns to write, direct, and executive produce the new season. The series quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched English-language originals after its March 2024 debut, reaching the global Top 10 in over 90 countries and generating 100 million views worldwide.
Season 2 Picks Up One Year After the First Season
The new season starts with Eddie Horniman (Theo James) and Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) working as full partners inside Bobby Glass’s criminal empire. They have been running the operation together for a year, but trouble is brewing from within. Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone), who is serving time behind bars, has started making increasingly unsound decisions that threaten to destroy everything Eddie and Susie have built.
Eddie and Susie now face a difficult choice. They can either take action against their own boss or risk watching their entire enterprise fall apart. The situation becomes more complicated as Eddie’s hunger for power grows stronger.
Matthew Read told Netflix’s Tudum that Eddie’s ambition drives much of the season’s conflict. “I think Eddie is extremely aspirational,” Read said. “He wants more.” The season explores whether Eddie can keep reaching for more without losing himself in the process.
Eddie and Susie Take Their Business to Italy
The biggest change in Season 2 is the geographic expansion. Eddie and Susie set their sights on Lake Maggiore, the ultra-luxury destination that straddles Italy and Switzerland. They attempt to establish a new base of operations in the Italian lake region, bringing their criminal enterprise into fresh and dangerous territory.
Guy Ritchie described the move as a deliberate expansion of the show’s world. “This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes,” Ritchie said. “Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players.”
The Italian setting brings a new atmosphere to the series, mixing the British style of the first season with a Mediterranean feel marked by fragile alliances and hidden interests. The teaser trailer shows the pair operating in Italy under the radar, but their presence does not go unnoticed.
New Characters Bring Fresh Danger to the Series
Season 2 introduces powerful new characters who stand in Eddie and Susie’s way. Sergio Castellitto joins the cast as Marco Moretti, an influential Italian crime boss described as “extremely ruthless and elegant”. Moretti becomes one of the biggest threats to Eddie and Susie’s expansion plans.
Michele Morrone, known for his role in 365 Days, plays Cico Maldini, a volatile fixer who helps Eddie and Susie manage their business in Italy. Matthew Read warns that Cico is not a man to be trusted. The character’s loyalty remains uncertain throughout the season, adding another layer of tension to the story.
The cast also includes several other new faces. Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) joins as Lord Hawthorne. Italian actress Benedetta Porcaroli appears alongside Benjamin Clementine, Amra Mallassi, and Tyler Conti. In classic Ritchie fashion, British professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr. and television presenter Maya Jama also make appearances in the new season.
Returning Cast Members Reunite for Season 2
The core cast returns for the new season. Theo James reprises his role as Eddie Horniman, the reluctant aristocrat who embraced his role as a crime boss. Kaya Scodelario returns as Susie Glass, the ambitious and formidable daughter of Bobby Glass.
Daniel Ings is back as Eddie’s unpredictable brother Freddy. Ray Winstone returns as Bobby Glass, the imprisoned crime boss whose decisions create chaos from behind bars. Joely Richardson and Vinnie Jones also reprise their roles.
Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Vu, Pearce Quigley, Jasmine Blackborrow, Harry Goodwins, and Ruby Sear complete the returning ensemble.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Release Details
The Gentlemen Season 2 premieres exclusively on Netflix on September 3, 2026. All eight episodes will be available to stream on the same day, matching the release format of the first season. Each episode runs for approximately 60 minutes.
The series began production in May 2025 and wrapped ahead of schedule. Theo James confirmed in an interview that filming had finished and the team was working on the final cut. James described the new season as “fun” but noted it goes “a little wild” and is darker than the first season.
The show is a spin-off of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, which starred Matthew McConaughey and grossed more than $115 million at the global box office. The television series reimagined the premise around a British aristocrat who inherits a cannabis empire hidden beneath his family estate.
