The streaming service is stacking its 2026 schedule with a wave of crime and thriller series that promise twists, high stakes, and major star power. From a James Bond-inspired meta story to intense Mumbai dramas, Prime Video has lined up a collection of shows designed to keep viewers on edge.
The platform recently announced a packed slate of original content, with thrillers taking center stage. The lineup includes everything from psychological whodunits to action-packed espionage stories, with releases rolling out through the spring and beyond. This push comes as part of Prime Video’s “Crime on Prime” programming block, which kicked off in early 2026.
Bait Arrives With a Perfect Score and a Bold Bond Twist
One of the most talked-about new arrivals is Bait, a six-part series starring Riz Ahmed that debuted with a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes from early reviews. The show takes a creative approach to the spy genre, following an actor who gets caught in a psychological spiral after being named a potential candidate to play James Bond.
The series mixes espionage themes with questions about identity and fame, all while maintaining a sharp sense of humor despite its darker subject matter. Critics have praised the show’s largely South Asian cast for bringing fresh perspectives to a genre typically dominated by Western stories. All six episodes of Bait are set to premiere on March 25, 2026, giving viewers a complete story to binge.
Storm Brings High-Stakes Drama From Mumbai
For fans of international thrillers, Storm marks a major addition to Prime Video’s global lineup. The series stars National Award-winning actor Parvathy Thiruvothu in a female-driven story set against the raw, unpredictable energy of Mumbai. The show follows five women caught in a dangerous web of secrets when a sustainable housing project turns into a deadly scam.
The first-look teaser, titled “Storm Sizzle,” shows Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rrama Sharma, and Saba Azad alongside Thiruvothu in what promises to be an intense, action-packed narrative. The series is positioned as a social thriller exploring power, survival, and moral ambiguity.
The project also marks Hrithik Roshan’s debut as a producer in the streaming space through his HRX Productions banner. The actor’s move into producing OTT content signals a push toward bold, unconventional storytelling on the platform.
Speaking about the project, Thiruvothu shared:
“Being part of Prime Video’s slate always brings a certain responsibility. There’s a wide, diverse audience engaging with the platform, and that makes it important for the storytelling to be both honest and accessible without diluting its intent. When producers back material that doesn’t follow templates, it gives actors the freedom to explore complexity rather than performance.”
Scarpetta Brings a Beloved Literary Detective to the Screen
Another major release is Scarpetta, based on Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling book series that has sold over 120 million copies worldwide. The series stars Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner who uses her skills to speak for victims while investigating a serial killer.
The show unfolds across two timelines, following Scarpetta from her early days as Chief Medical Examiner in the late 1990s to her present-day return to her hometown. The cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis as Scarpetta’s sister Dorothy Farinelli, Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, and Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley. The series premieres March 11, 2026, on Prime Video in more than 240 countries.
