The anime world just witnessed one of the most surprising finales in recent memory. Fire Force Season 3 Episode 25, which aired in April 2026, did not just end Shinra Kusakabe’s story. It changed how fans view both Fire Force and the classic series Soul Eater forever.

For years, viewers noticed small connections between the two shows. Both come from creator Atsushi Ohkubo. Both feature a strange moon with a face. But the finale made something clear that fans only suspected before. Fire Force is actually a prequel to Soul Eater. The final episode showed multiple Soul Eater characters on screen for the first time in nearly two decades.

Shinra Becomes Bansho Man and Reshapes All of Reality

The final episodes of Fire Force take viewers on a wild ride. The Great Cataclysm wipes out the Earth. Only Shinra Kusakabe, his brother Sho, and Arthur Boyle survive by escaping into space. But Shinra does not accept this ending. He uses his Adolla Burst powers to reach a new form called Bansho Man. This name comes from the Japanese word “shinrabanshō,” which means “all creation.”

Shinra brings the Earth back. He brings back every human who ever died. But he also changes the rules of the world. He removes the fear of death from humanity. He wipes out all fire powers. The world enters a state of madness where no one fears dying anymore. This new reality becomes something called Soul World. And that world follows the rules of Soul Eater.

People now gain power from their souls instead of from fire. Soul resonance becomes the new ability system. The god of death, known as Death or Shinigami, comes into existence through Shinra’s actions. Death later creates his son Death the Kid, and makes him look like Shinra on purpose.

Every Soul Eater Character Who Appears in the Fire Force Finale

The final two minutes of Episode 25 show a 25-year time jump. The world has settled into its new form. And then the screen shows characters every anime fan from the 2000s remembers well.

Maka Albarn appears as a young child. She sits with her parents, who are reading her a storybook. The book tells the tale of Shinra Kusakabe, the hero who saved the world and reshaped reality. This moment confirms that Fire Force’s story has become a legend in the Soul Eater universe.

Soul Evans shows up right next to Maka. Even as a child, his white hair and red eyes make him easy to spot. Fans see the early bond between these two partners forming before their eyes.

Black Star also makes an appearance. Even in a short cameo, his energetic personality comes through. His presence hints that the ninja clans and traditions of Soul Eater already exist in this new world.

Death the Kid appears as a young character talking to his father, Lord Death. His creation marks one of the most important reveals in the finale. The symmetrical look that Kid obsesses over in Soul Eater comes from Shinra himself.

Blair shows up briefly in her cat form. This small cameo confirms that witches and magical beings exist in the newly created Soul World.

Excalibur appears as well. In Soul Eater, Excalibur is one of the most powerful weapons in existence. The fact that this character exists in both series suggests the weapon’s legacy spans across both worlds.

What the Cameos Mean for Both Series

These appearances are not just fun extras for longtime fans. They serve a bigger purpose. Every character shown helps explain how the Soul Eater world works. The strange moon with a face comes from Shinra’s imagination. The existence of Death as a god comes from Shinra wanting people to have a healthier view of dying. The weird cartoonish physics of the Soul Eater world exist because one human mind reshaped all of reality.

The final page of the Fire Force manga even included the words “Next is Soul World” in English. This left no doubt about the connection between the two series.

Fan Reactions to the Soul Eater Return

Social media exploded after Episode 25 aired. Fans who grew up watching Soul Eater in 2008 felt a wave of nostalgia seeing these characters again. Many viewers started asking for a Soul Eater remake that follows the manga completely.

The original Soul Eater anime ran for 51 episodes but ended with an anime-original finale. The manga continued after the show finished. Fans have wanted a proper adaptation for 17 years. The Fire Force finale has brought that conversation back in a big way.

Where to Watch Fire Force Season 3

All episodes of Fire Force Season 3, including the finale, are available on Crunchyroll. The service streams the show with both subtitled and dubbed versions. Viewers can also catch up on Seasons 1 and 2 on the same platform.

The finale is now streaming worldwide. New viewers should know that watching Soul Eater first is not required to enjoy Fire Force. But those who have seen both shows will get a much deeper experience from the ending.
