KBS2 weekend drama Iron Family is all set to captivate viewers, and the cast has given fans even more reasons to tune in. Ahead of its premiere, the drama’s lead actors shared their thoughts on why this “romantic black comedy” is a must-watch.
Iron Family follows the story of a family that has run a laundry business for three generations. Geum Sae Rok stars as Lee Da Rim, the youngest daughter in the Cheongryeom Laundry family, who faces a rare illness gradually causing her vision to narrow. Alongside her, Kim Jung Hyun plays Seo Kang Joo, the executive director of Jiseung Group, who comes from one of the wealthiest families in the Cheongryeom neighborhood but struggles under the weight of his father’s expectations.
A Show That Brings Families Together
Kim Jung Hyun described Iron Family as “relaxing,” noting, “I think it will be nice for families to watch the show together, laugh, and take a break.” He further elaborated, “The drama revolves around two families in the same neighborhood—one that embodies the traditional Korean family structure and another that only seems like a family on the surface. The real intrigue comes from reflecting on what family truly means as you watch the two families’ lives unfold.”
Relatable Characters for All Viewers
Geum Sae Rok, who plays the spirited yet struggling Lee Da Rim, shared her excitement about the diversity of characters in the series. “There are so many characters that viewers can relate to depending on their personal circumstances,” she said, emphasizing the charm of the show. “Every character is endearing, and the situations they go through will resonate with many people.”
A Fresh Twist on Weekend Drama
Veteran actress Park Ji Young, who plays Go Bong Hee, added to the excitement by hinting that Iron Family is more than your typical weekend drama. “Viewers may expect the usual weekend drama formula, but this show has something special that will make it much more exciting,” she teased. Park Ji Young also advised fans to pay close attention to her character’s interactions with the rest of the cast, saying, “Go Bong Hee ties everything together, and if you focus on her journey, the whole story will naturally come together.”
A Star-Studded Ensemble Full of Life
Shin Hyun Joon, who plays a key role, expressed his love for the show’s dynamic characters, saying, “All the characters come to life with distinct personalities. With a star-studded cast of top-tier actors, watching Iron Family will feel like opening a gift set filled with delightful surprises.” Confident that the drama will entertain, Shin emphasized its unique appeal.
Kim Hye Eun also teased the show’s suspenseful moments, saying, “It will be twice as fun if you try to guess the whereabouts of the bundle of money while watching.”
A Drama of Love Across Generations
Co-stars Choi Tae Joon and Yang Hye Ji praised the chemistry between the cast members. “The show is filled with amazing chemistry,” they said. “From veteran actors like Kim Young Ok and Park In Hwan to the different couples, viewers will find it really enjoyable. It’s a drama that portrays love across different generations, and we think these varied love stories will capture the audience’s hearts.”
