Tanya Mittal, the Bigg Boss 19 finalist, has spoken openly about her difficult time on the reality show. The entrepreneur and social media influencer said people only wanted TRPs from her, even if it meant humiliating or provoking her. She shared these feelings in a recent interview, explaining how the experience made her hesitant to do another reality show.

Mittal, who finished fourth on Salman Khan‘s show, said the pursuit of television ratings often came at the cost of contestants’ emotional well-being. She recalled how every part of her life became a topic of ridicule during her time in the house.

Tanya Mittal’s Mother Pushed Her to Face Her Fears

After Bigg Boss 19, Mittal had become completely against doing another reality show. But her mother, Suneeta Mittal, encouraged her to try again. Her mother told her that running away from things would never help her move forward and promised to stand by her side this time.

Mittal eventually agreed to do the reality show Maa Hai Na with her mother. However, during filming, she saw her mother face the same hostility she had experienced before. This made her want to quit the show. She said she was mentally done and did not want to continue. But her mother refused to let her give up and reminded her that running away would never stop people from talking.

The Emotional Toll of Reality Television

Mittal opened up about the mental impact the show had on her. She expressed disappointment over certain remarks made during her time in the house. One comment that hurt her deeply involved her mother. She was asked what she would do if her mother was “hanged from a tree”. Mittal said this statement was extremely hurtful because of the deep respect she holds for her mother.

She explained that she places her mother at the level of a temple and considers her her god. She said her mother is the most important person in her life, and any negative comment about her family affects her deeply.

Mittal also felt there was a lack of support during difficult moments. She said no one stepped in to defend her. She questioned the show’s approach, saying that in the race for TRPs, no one thought about how it would mentally affect a contestant.

Dealing with Online Criticism and Trolling

Mittal has frequently found herself on the receiving end of online criticism. She has learned to approach this differently by not responding to trolls. She believes silence is the most powerful tool a person can have. People may think her silence is weakness, but she says it is not.

She said no one gets questioned more than she does, yet it does not affect her because she knows what she is doing with her life. If someone calls her jobless or accuses her of showing off, she does not feel the need to respond. Her purpose in life is much bigger than that.

Being ‘Too Much’ for Society to Accept

Mittal believes much of the criticism comes from society being uncomfortable with successful women. She said she has realised she is too much for people to digest. People are not used to seeing women live with businesses, bodyguards, and success. They have seen men do it, but not women.

She pointed out the double standards that exist. When a man owns a Mercedes or has bodyguards, nobody questions it. But when a woman does, people immediately ask whether it belongs to her father or someone else.

Responding to the ‘Sasti Copy’ Remark

Recently, a journalist referred to Mittal as a “sasti copy” of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives star Shalini Passi. The report claimed she only flaunts her wealth. Mittal hit back strongly, calling the remark “cheap, sexist commentary”.

She took to social media to express her disappointment. She wrote that calling a woman a “sasti copy” is not journalism but cheap, sexist commentary. She emphasised that she is not Shalini Passi but Tanya Mittal, and her journey is her own.

In another emotional post, she reflected on the criticism she has faced over the years. She said she started making temple videos to share and celebrate culture but was mocked and trolled for it. Opportunities she had worked hard for slipped away. She went to Bigg Boss, and the entire country seemed to turn against her. Not one person stood up for her, yet she endured it all and is still here.

Mittal maintained that her success has come through years of hard work and perseverance. She has spent more than a decade building her career and identity. Reducing her journey to comparisons with another woman is unfair and disrespectful.

Choosing Quality Over Quantity in Her Career

Despite the criticism, Mittal said she has no intention of chasing visibility for the sake of it. She is not someone who is dying for TRPs or work. She turned down several offers after Bigg Boss 19 because she only wants to do projects that add value to her image.

On the work front, she is set to make her acting debut in an upcoming Ektaa Kapoor production. In February 2026, she met with Ekta Kapoor and shared a video on Instagram expressing her gratitude.

Her Viral Comment About Giving an Allowance to Her Future Husband

Mittal previously went viral for saying she wanted to earn enough to give her future husband a monthly allowance running into lakhs. She continues to stand by that statement. When asked how her family reacted, she laughed and said the family group exploded with everyone asking about the guy. They all want someone well-settled for her, but it has not been easy.

She admitted that finding the right partner has been harder than she imagined. Sometimes being very strong breaks you into pieces. She really wants someone with whom she can share her life, but she has not found anyone strong enough yet. She wants to earn so much that she can give her husband โ‚น15-20 lakh, even โ‚น1 crore if she can. She wants to gift him cars, a house, and everything he dreams of. She is just waiting for the right person.

“I felt people only wanted TRPs from me, whether by humiliating me or provoking me.”

“Silence is the most powerful tool you can have. People think my silence is weakness, but it isn’t.”

“Calling a woman a ‘Sasti copy’ isn’t journalism, it’s cheap, sexist commentary. I am not Shalini Passi. I am Tanya Mittal. And my journey is my own.”
