What Happened in Season 3 Episode 1
The Season 3 premiere began with a series of street interviews that jumped ahead in the timeline. News reporters asked various girls questions that revealed new quirks related to Rentaro, serving as both self-irony for the anime and an introduction to the old characters while teasing new love interests.
After the interview segment, Rentaro gave an emotional speech to support his partners. He then went to visit his uncle Hiro, the same uncle he had saved when he was younger. During the visit, Rentaro met his cousin Chiyo, a middle schooler who was overwhelmed by the pressure of keeping everything together. Rentaro immediately noticed her tiredness and told her she did not have to do everything by herself.
In the final moments of the episode, it was revealed that Uncle Hiro had arranged the meeting for matchmaking purposes. Chiyo was shocked when she realized she liked Rentaro but was hesitant to share her feelings. Rentaro did not let her confess in a forced manner and insisted that she tell him her feelings herself.
What to Expect in Episode 2
Episode 2 will feature the “Meet the Family” segment, where Rentaro brings Chiyo into his community. The episode may explore the questions left unanswered in the premiere, including how the other girlfriends will react to a new relative entering their lives. Expect plenty of hilarious situations to appear.
According to early reviews, Rentaro introduces Chiyo to his other girlfriends, and their reactions are absolutely funny. Hahari welcomes the decision with open arms, becoming a bit too excited about the whole situation. Karane, on the other hand, completely loses it and asks Rentaro whether this is actually something that will be accepted. Rentaro breaks the fourth wall and comments that it is probably fine because the last episode aired without a hitch.
Chiyo’s Personality Causes Chaos
Though the girlfriends were initially welcoming, everything soon becomes bizarre. Chiyo has a habit of correcting everyone and cannot stand anything that goes against order. She obsessively begins to correct all the girlfriends, from their attire to the way they speak, causing immense disarray among them. This result completely breaks Chiyo.
How the Girlfriends Calm Chiyo Down
Chiyo becomes overwhelmed with emotion and blames herself for the chaotic situation. She asks for forgiveness, and all the girlfriends try to pacify her. The best solution they come up with is to kiss Rentaro one by one. This is how they plan to prove that something that feels so wrong can also be something that makes everyone happy. Finally, Rentaro also kisses Chiyo, and the girlfriends officially welcome her into the Rentaro family.
The Second Half of Episode 2
The second half of the episode involves a new character called Toruru, who comes with a camera to capture Meme without authorisation. Toruru is part of the school newspaper and wants to shoot Meme because she is a mysterious beauty who always tries to hide herself. Toruru posts a rare picture in the newspaper, and Rentaro goes out of his way to collect all the newspapers circulated within the school and even decides to teach Toruru a lesson.
However, Hahari comes to save the day. Toruru puts forward some damaging evidence of what goes on in the Rentaro family and blackmails Hahari into silence. Rentaro decides to do something himself, and his girlfriends join in the effort to block Toruru from taking any pictures of Meme.
Meme’s Solution to Avoid Cameras
Toruru had reportedly trained a lot to capture a photo of Meme. Thus, Meme theorises that if she trains as well, she could also evade a camera. Hahari thinks it would be great for Meme to dress up as a bunny to quicken the process.
