The Netflix documentary series “Death of the Pastor’s Wife” has brought renewed attention to the case of Mica Miller, a 30-year-old woman who died in April 2024. Her death was ruled a suicide, but questions about her husband John Paul Miller and his new wife Suzie Skinner continue to grow.
A recent photo of the couple enjoying a baseball game has sparked fresh anger online. Many people are upset to see Miller living what appears to be a normal life while he awaits trial on federal charges.
Where Are John Paul Miller and Suzie Skinner Now?
John Paul Miller, 46, remains free on a $100,000 bond as he awaits his federal trial, which is scheduled for October 2026. He lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with his wife Suzie Skinner.
Miller was the pastor at Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach. The church building has since been sold for $2.5 million in February 2025. According to reports, he continues to preach to a small group of about 15 to 20 people at temporary locations around Myrtle Beach. Skinner leads the worship music during these services.
Miller and Skinner got married in a private beach ceremony in Myrtle Beach on June 1, 2025 — just over a year after Mica’s death.
The Photo That Made People Angry
Podcaster Robbie Harvey, who has been following the Mica Miller case closely, shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) showing Miller and Skinner at a Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball game. The Pelicans were playing against the Columbia Fireflies from September 1 through September 6.
While the couple’s faces were not clearly visible in the photo, Harvey wrote: “John-Paul Miller and Suzie Skinner out enjoying a baseball game today”. The post received over 120,000 views.
Harvey also shared another photo of the couple at a bar, taken shortly after Mica’s death. He wrote: “Just days after Mica died… John-Paul Miller and Suzie Skinner were having a good time at a local bar”.

Online Backlash
The photos drew strong reactions from people online.
“Why do wicked people win, prosper and live a normal life while their victims and their families suffer from the actions they deliberately inflicted on them. Is there justice in this world really!”
Another person wrote:
“After that Netflix documentary I wouldn’t want to show my face in public!”
A third commenter said:
“They should be called out and shunned everywhere they dare to go.”
Some comments also brought up Skinner’s late first husband, Chris Skinner. One person wrote:
“Suzie’s paraplegic husband was found floating in the swimming pool, and poor Mica was found in the woods with a bullet in her head lying in stagnant water…”
What Happened to Mica Miller?
Mica Miller was found dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina on April 27, 2024. She died from a single gunshot wound, and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office ruled her death a suicide.
Mica was just 13 years old when she met John Paul Miller at Solid Rock Church. He was 15 years older than her and served as the church’s pastor. She later had an affair with him, and they both divorced their spouses to marry each other in 2017. He was 38 at the time, and she was 23.
Mica filed for divorce in February 2024, just two days before her death. Her family and friends have questioned the official ruling, pointing fingers at her husband.
The Federal Charges Against John Paul Miller
Miller has not been charged in connection with Mica’s death. However, in December 2025, a federal grand jury indicted him on two charges:
- Cyberstalking: Prosecutors say Miller allegedly posted a nude photo of Mica online without her consent, placed tracking devices on her car, and contacted her over 50 times in a single day.
- Making false statements to federal investigators: He allegedly lied about how often he contacted Mica and about damaging her tires.
Miller has pleaded not guilty to both charges. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison for cyberstalking and two years for making false statements, plus a fine of up to $250,000. His trial has been delayed multiple times and is now set to begin in October 2026.

Suzie Skinner’s Background
Suzie Skinner works as a physical therapist in Myrtle Beach. She was previously married to Chris Skinner, a U.S. Army veteran who became paralyzed from the neck down after a car accident at age 20. She met him while working as his physical therapist, and they married in 2004.
Chris Skinner was found dead in a community pool in September 2021. The cause of death was asphyxiation due to drowning. His sister has said she believes his death was “intentional”.
Mica’s friends and family have alleged that John Paul Miller and Suzie Skinner were having an affair while both were still married. Mica reportedly asked Miller to sign a document agreeing to end any affairs.
Miller’s Previous Marriage
Before marrying Mica, Miller was married to Alison “Ali” Williams for 16 years. They had four children together. The marriage ended in divorce in 2016 after Miller’s affair with Mica became known.
Miller also faces a separate lawsuit accusing him of raping a 15-year-old girl in 1998, when he was 19.
The public continues to watch this case closely as Miller’s October trial approaches. The Netflix documentary has only increased interest in what happened to Mica Miller and what comes next for her former husband and his new wife.
