Dhanush’s Period Drama Captain Miller to Premiere on Prime Video on February 9

Loading

The wait is over for the fans of Dhanush, as his latest film Captain Miller, a period action-adventure set in the 1930s-1940s in British India, is all set to stream on Prime Video from February 9. The film, which had a decent run at the box office despite clashing with several other films, is now ready to reach a wider audience on the OTT platform.

Captain Miller, directed by Arun Matheswaran, is the first part of a planned trilogy that follows the life of an outlaw named Miller, who engages in bloody loots, heists, and assaults. The film also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Nassar, Sundeep Kishan, and Nivedhithaa Sathish in pivotal roles. The film is written by Arunraja Kamaraj and Madhan Karky, and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films.

The film was released in theaters on January 12 in Tamil and Hindi, and on January 25 in Telugu, coinciding with the festivals of Pongal and Republic Day respectively. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, and collected nearly 70 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year.

Prime Video announced the digital premiere of the film on their official X account, with a tweet that read, “What makes a soldier go rogue? The answer lies in Miller’s journey. #CaptainMillerOnPrime, Feb 9.” The tweet also included a link to the film’s teaser, which has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube.

However, the announcement also clarified that the film will be available on Prime Video in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, along with English subtitles, but not in Hindi. This disappointed the fans in the northern regions, who expressed their wish for a Hindi dubbed version of the film. Some of them commented, “We want it in Hindi too. Everyone here in the North loves Dhanush.” and “What about Hindi dubbed; this is unfair for the Hindi audience.”

The film revolves around the story of Analeesan (Dhanush), also known as Eesa, who becomes a British Indian Army soldier after being an idler. He earns the title of Captain Miller after his exploits, but a tragic incident turns him into a revolutionary. The film explores his journey of fighting for freedom, love, and justice.

Director Arun Matheswaran said, “Captain Miller is a film that is close to my heart. It is a story of a man who is driven by his ideals and emotions, and who challenges the oppressive system. It is a film that is both engaging and emotional, and I hope the viewers will enjoy it.”

Don’t miss the chance to watch this thrilling and action-packed film, only on Prime Video. Watch the trailer above and mark your calendars for February 9.
