Taylor Swift was nowhere to be seen at the 2025 American Music Awards, leaving fans disappointed after weeks of speculation that she would announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version). Reports confirm she skipped the event to avoid media questions about her strained friendship with Blake Lively, who is embroiled in a legal battle with co-star Justin Baldoni.
Swift was nominated for six awards but won none, missing a chance to make an acceptance speech where fans hoped she would reveal her re-recorded album. Her absence fueled theories, especially after her online store teased “AMAS” by listing categories as Apparel, Music, Accessories, and Sale. Fans also noticed a 26% discount on merch, matching the AMAs date (May 26).
A source told Daily Mail, “She avoided the AMAs because she didn’t want to deal with 1000s of questions about the Blake Lively saga. It is all anyone wants to talk about, and Taylor is really tired of it.” Swift was subpoenaed in Baldoni’s defamation case against Lively but was later excused after her father provided evidence.
The singer has distanced herself from Lively, with insiders saying their friendship has “halted.” Meanwhile, Swift has dropped hints about Reputation (Taylor’s Version), including a snake necklace at the iHeartRadio Awards and a re-recorded snippet of “Look What You Made Me Do” in The Handmaid’s Tale.
Fans expressed frustration online, joking about “clowning” over false clues. One posted a lyric from “But Daddy I Love Him”: “You should see your faces.” Another shared an empty red carpet photo with the caption, “Taylor Swift stuns at the #AMAs.”
Swift is enjoying downtime with Travis Kelce, who unfollowed Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, on Instagram. A source said, “They are just being a normal low-key couple and shying away from the spotlight.” Despite the AMAs snub, Swift’s team hints at “more albums and awards” ahead.
