Recap of Season 2 Episode 3
The previous episode, “We Board the Princess Andromeda,” saw Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson infiltrate Luke’s ship . They discovered the vessel was a gathering place for demigods and monsters loyal to the Titan Kronos . Luke tried to convince Percy and Annabeth to join his cause, but they refused .
A key moment was Annabeth revealing the “Great Prophecy” to Percy. This prophecy speaks of a child of the “Big Three” gods (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades) who will make a choice that decides the fate of Olympus when they turn sixteen . The trio escaped the ship thanks to a bomb Tyson created .
Meanwhile, Clarisse began her own quest for the Golden Fleece but was given incorrect coordinates, sending her to New Jersey instead of the Sea of Monsters . The episode ended with Clarisse arriving just in time to help Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson fight off the Hydra, forcing an unlikely team-up .
What to Expect in Episode 4: “Clarisse Blows Up Everything”
The episode title suggests a major focus on the daughter of Ares. After her failed solo start, Clarisse will join forces with Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson aboard her ship, the CSS Birmingham (also called the Ironclad) . Their shared goal is to navigate to the Sea of Monsters, but cooperation between Percy and his former rival will be challenging.
The journey will bring the group face-to-face with legendary sea monsters. Walker Scobell, who plays Percy, has hinted at a pivotal scene.
“It will be one of the most pivotal moments from The Sea of Monsters, the encounter with Scylla and Charybdis, the twin sea monsters guarding the entrance to the Sea of Monsters,” Scobell said in an interview .
This encounter will test their teamwork and survival skills as they sail through treacherous waters . The post-credit scene from Episode 3 teased the arrival of a giant sea monster, likely one of these threats .
Beyond the action, the episode will continue to explore the weight of the Great Prophecy on Percy and the ongoing threat from Luke and Kronos in the background .
