The New Target: Adrian Gallo and His Acrylic Resin
Every episode of The Hunting Party features a new dangerous fugitive, and the second episode is named after this week’s target. The team must hunt down Adrian Gallo, a serial killer with a signature and disturbing process.
Adrian Gallo preserves his victims in acrylic resin, a method compared to preserving insect specimens. This makes him an extremely complicated and dangerous target for Bex and her agents.
To help catch him, Bex will work with Detective Erica Burke, played by guest star Niecy Nash-Betts. Detective Burke has a past connection to Gallo from a case in rural New Mexico, providing crucial insight for the manhunt.

The core team returns to track down this new threat, alongside a pivotal new guest star.
Leading the team is Melissa Roxburgh as FBI Special Agent Bex Henderson. She is joined by Patrick Sabongui as CIA Agent Ryan Hassani and Sara Garcia as tech expert Jennifer Morales.
Josh McKenzie also returns as Shane Florence, the former Pit guard whose knowledge of the inmates is vital. His role becomes more complex as he works alongside Colonel Lazarus, unaware she is his biological mother.
The notable guest star for this episode is Niecy Nash-Betts, playing Detective Erica Burke. Her character is essential to the hunt for Adrian Gallo due to her history with the case.
Major Changes After the Season 2 Premiere
Episode 2 picks up after significant events that reshaped the team in the season opener, titled “Ron Simms.”.
The premiere resolved a major cliffhanger from Season 1: Oliver Odell did not survive. Show producers explained that his death serves to motivate Bex fully and allow the core field team’s chemistry to take center stage.
Melissa Roxburgh, who plays Bex, said about the twist, “audiences will be more inclined to tune in because I think that they weren’t expecting that”.
Furthermore, the team’s command structure has changed. After Bex forced Attorney General Mallory to reinstate the task force, Mallory was removed from her position. She has been replaced by Colonel Eve Lazarus, played by Kari Matchett.
Lazarus is a major wildcard. She is a former inmate of the Pit who “graduated” from its program and is also Shane’s mother, though he does not know this. The producers note she will be a more hands-on commander than Mallory was.
Executive producer Jake Coburn described the new dynamic, stating, “It’s a strained relationship… they both have a very strong emotional connection… to Shane, and there’s a tension that’s going to come because of that”.

The season will also explore the larger mysteries of the Pit, including the purpose of the experiments conducted there and the truth behind the explosion that freed the inmates. The complicated presence of Colonel Lazarus promises to unravel more secrets connected to the prison’s dark history.
