Apple TV’s award-winning comedy series The Studio is officially heading back to set. Following a triumphant night at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, series co-creator and star Seth Rogen confirmed that production for Season 2 is set to begin in just one week. The new season will draw direct inspiration from the real events and celebrity encounters of this awards season.
A Golden Globes Boost for Season 2
Backstage at the Golden Globes ceremony on January 11, 2026, Seth Rogen shared a major production update with reporters. He confirmed that the cameras will start rolling on the next chapter of the Hollywood satire very soon.
“We start shooting in a week,” Rogen stated clearly.
The victory at the Globes, where the show won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Rogen won Best Actor, has already begun fueling the creative process for the new season. Rogen explained that the writers have been weaving real-life moments from the awards circuit directly into the Season 2 scripts.
“We’ve literally written some things that happened leading up to this award show into episodes as we’ve been writing the show. So yes, several things have happened, both today and leading up to this event that we have written directly into the show, and you’ll probably know what they are when you see them,” Rogen told the press.
This meta-approach is fitting for a series whose first season included an entire episode set at a fictional Golden Globes ceremony. Rogen even joked about the surreal experience of winning a real Globe after his character once held a fake one on the show.
Hollywood Executives Line Up for Cameos
A clear sign of the show’s popularity within the industry it parodies is the surge in requests for guest appearances. Rogen revealed that the Golden Globes event itself became a prime spot for recruiting new talent.
“A lot of people literally just come up to us and were like, ‘Put me on your show. I’ll do anything. I’ll walk by!’” Rogen said.
Among those eager to appear is Tom Rothman, the Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. Rogen credited Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, who made a cameo in Season 1, with starting this trend of real studio executives wanting to be part of the show.
“Ted kind of ruined it for everyone. But yeah, there’s a few people we roped in tonight. This is good poaching ground for us,” Rogen noted.
What to Expect in The Studio Season 2
While specific plot details are under wraps, the main cast is expected to return. This includes Seth Rogen as studio head Matt Remick, alongside Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders. The show will continue to follow the chaotic team at the fictional Continental Studios as they navigate the film industry.
The Season 1 finale left the studio’s fate hanging in the balance, facing a potential buyout. Season 2 will likely explore the aftermath of that cliffhanger. Co-creator Evan Goldberg has mentioned the writing team entered the new season with an abundance of ideas, having initially brainstormed about 30 potential episodes.
The creative team has also expressed interest in setting an episode at a major international film festival, a concept they discussed but didn’t use in the first season.
A Show Built on Crew Teamwork
During his Golden Globes acceptance speech, Rogen took a meaningful moment to highlight the hard work of the crew behind the series. He explained that the show’s distinctive style, which uses long continuous takes, requires extraordinary collaboration from every department.
He thanked numerous crew members by name, from the first assistant director and cinematographer to the costume designer, property master, and even the craft services provider. This emphasis on the entire team reflects the show’s behind-the-scenes theme.

The Path to Season 2
The Studio first premiered on Apple TV+ in March 2025 and quickly became a critical favorite, earning a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Its awards success began at the 2025 Emmy Awards, where it made history by winning 13 awards, breaking the record for most wins by a comedy series in a single night. Rogen himself tied the record for most Emmys won by an individual in one night.
The show was officially renewed for a second season in May 2025, just weeks after its first season finale aired. The production is supported by a $13.2 million tax credit from the state of California, ensuring it will again film in Los Angeles.
While an official release date for The Studio Season 2 on Apple TV+ has not been announced, the start of production next week suggests new episodes could arrive later in 2026 or early 2027.
