The 83rd Golden Globe Awards delivered a night that felt familiar to TV fans. The shows that triumphed at the Emmys a few months ago once again took center stage, proving their dominance with Hollywood’s foreign press. The big television winners were The Pitt, Adolescence, and The Studio, each claiming multiple awards and echoing their recent Emmy success.
Hosted for the second consecutive year by comedian Nikki Glaser, the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton celebrated the best in film and television for 2025. On the TV side, the night confirmed a clear trend: the industryโs top honors are consolidating around a small group of critically acclaimed hits.
The Pitt Secures Top Drama Honor and a Nostalgic Reunion
The Pitt, HBO Max’s medical drama set in a Pittsburgh emergency room, won the night’s top television prize for Best Television Series โ Drama. This victory saw the show beat out other streaming favorites like The Diplomat, Severance, and The White Lotus.
The win was part of a two-award sweep for the series. Its star, Noah Wyle, also won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series โ Drama for his role. The night featured a warm, nostalgic moment when Wyle, on his way to accept the series award, shared an embrace with his former ER co-star George Clooney, who was seated in the audience.
Wyle told reporters that he and Clooney “had a lovely reunion last night,” adding that working on The Pitt “has brought up a lot of old memories”.
The reunion sparked immediate speculation about a potential on-screen cameo. HBO and HBO Max chief Casey Bloys had previously stated that Clooney would be “welcome” to appear on the show.
Adolescence Dominates Limited Series Categories with Four Wins
Netflixโs gripping limited series Adolescence was the biggest winner in television, taking home four Golden Globes. The show won the award for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
Its cast was also richly rewarded. Stephen Graham won for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, while Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper won for their supporting roles. Owen Cooper, at 16 years old, became the youngest person ever to win the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor on Television.
“Wow, standing here with a Golden Globe, it does not feel real whatsoever,” Cooper said during his acceptance. “What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through”.
Backstage, Graham reflected on the show’s profound impact, sharing stories of viewers who said the series helped them connect with their families. When asked about the potential for a second season, Graham offered a teasing, non-committal answer, suggesting he and co-creator Jack Thorne might revisit the idea in a few years.
The Studio Wins Best Comedy, Celebrating Its Own Meta Moment
Apple TV+’s satirical Hollywood comedy The Studio won the award for Best Television Series โ Musical or Comedy. The win was delightfully meta, as an entire episode of the showโs first season was dedicated to its fictional studio head character desperately wanting to win a Golden Globe.
The show’s star and co-creator, Seth Rogen, also won the award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series โ Musical or Comedy. In his speech, Rogen acknowledged the surreal nature of the moment.
“I thought the only way I would get to hold one of these was to create a whole show where I get to give myself a fake one,” Rogen joked from the stage.
Rogen also revealed practical news for fans, announcing that production on The Studio‘s second season would begin the very next week.
