Yash’s upcoming movie Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is finally arriving in theaters on August 26, 2026, after facing multiple delays. The film was originally set to release on March 19, 2026, which would have put it head-to-head with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge. When the postponement was announced, many people started saying that Yash got scared of the competition and backed out.
The actor recently sat down for an interview on Aap Ki Adalat and gave a clear response to all the rumors. He made it clear that the decision to delay the film had nothing to do with fear or ego.
Yash Says Delay Was About Self-Respect, Not Fear
During the interview, Yash directly addressed the chatter around him avoiding a box-office clash. He said, “When my movie was supposed to release on March 19 (and postponed), I know a lot of people said about me ki main bhi darr gaya (I got scared). Zindagi me khone ka kuch hai hi nahi to darr hai hi nahi (I have nothing to lose in life, so I have no fear)”.
He admitted that he did have a fear, but it was not about facing Dhurandhar 2 at the box office. His real worry was about making a film that his fans would love. “Log samajhte hain ki ₹100-₹200 crore kam hone se mujhe kuch ho sakta hai. Nahi sir, hamare paas toh kuch tha hi nahi pocket mein. Abhi joh bhi hai, plus hi hai (People think losing ₹100-200 crore will affect me. But no, we had nothing in our pockets. Whatever we have now is a bonus)”. He explained that his only fear was whether the final product would meet the promises he made to his audience.
‘I Have Never Directly Gone Into a Clash’
Yash also clarified that he has never intentionally scheduled his movies against another big release. “Jo bhi clashes aap bol rahe hain, woh clash mein main seedha jaake kabhi nahi kiya. Mera date announce hua hota hai, uske baad koi agar aayega, toh woh clash hota hai (Whatever clashes you are talking about, I have never directly gone into a clash. My date would have been announced first, and if someone comes after that, then it becomes a clash)”.
He mentioned that the March 19 date put him in a confusing situation because of the uncertainty surrounding the film’s completion. According to him, sticking to the original release date just to protect his image would have been an act of ego. Delaying the project, on the other hand, was a matter of self-respect.
Why the Movie Was Postponed Multiple Times
Toxic was first pushed from March 19 to June 4, 2026. The makers cited ‘uncertainty in the Middle East’ as the reason, as the Gulf region is a key market for the film. However, in May 2026, the film was postponed again with no new date announced.
Finally, on Father’s Day, the team confirmed that Toxic would hit theaters on August 26. The film is now set for a worldwide release on that date.
Yash’s Message to Fans and Critics
Yash made it clear that financial losses do not scare him. He said, “Zindagi mein mujhe khone ka kuch hai hi nahin, toh mujhe darr hai hi nahin (I have nothing in life that I am afraid of losing, so I have no fear)”. He added that even if the film loses ₹100 crore or ₹200 crore, it won’t affect him because he started with nothing, and whatever he has now is a bonus.
His main concern was always about delivering a product that he could be proud of. “Darr iss cheez ka hai ki joh maine promise kiya hai logon ko and meri taraf se product theek nahi aaya (My fear is about what I have promised people. If the product from my side is not right, then I move forward)”.
