ADOR Warns NewJeans That Promoting Under a New Group Name Could Be a Serious Contract Violation

ADOR has issued a warning regarding NewJeans‘ recent announcement of a contest for a temporary group name. The agency states that this action could be a serious breach of their existing contract.

ADOR’s Stance on NewJeans’ Actions

On January 23 KST, ADOR shared their official position with the media. They emphasized that the exclusive contract between ADOR and NewJeans is still valid. ADOR also stated they are taking legal steps to confirm this. The agency expressed their disappointment regarding NewJeans’ contest for a new group name. They said that if the members proceed with independent entertainment activities using a new name, it would be considered a serious contract violation.

NewJeans’ Temporary Group Name Contest

Earlier on the same day, January 23 KST, NewJeans announced a contest for a temporary group name through their social media platform, jeanzforfree. The group said they will accept submissions for two days. This announcement prompted ADOR’s strong response.
