Steven Spielberg is returning to alien stories with his upcoming movie Disclosure Day. The film stars Emily Blunt as a weather reporter who suddenly starts speaking an alien language during a live TV broadcast. The final trailer just dropped, giving fans a better look at what to expect when the movie hits theaters on June 12, 2026.

The Oscar-winning director stunned fans recently with a surprising claim about the film. Spielberg appeared in the new trailer and seemed to suggest he has seen proof that aliens have visited Earth. He said “all of this is true” while talking about the movie’s themes. The film follows a Kansas City TV meteorologist played by Blunt who gets taken over by a mysterious force while on air.

What ‘Disclosure Day’ Is About

The story centers on a simple but big question. What happens when seven billion people learn they are not alone in the universe? Blunt’s character causes worldwide panic when she starts speaking an alien language during a regular weather segment. O’Connor’s character somehow understands the language but does not know why. He decides to tell everyone the full alien message.

The final trailer released on May 26, 2026 shows a first look at the alien creatures. The last shot zooms into a deer’s eyes, and the animal changes into an alien form. The movie also shows strange animal behavior and secret government actions trying to hide the truth.

Spielberg worked on parts of the movie in Upstate New York, with filming taking place in the Catskills and Westchester County. The director has not made a movie about aliens since War of the Worlds in 2005. His last film was 2022’s The Fabelmans.
