Marvel Studios announced the official release date for VisionQuest during the Disney Upfront presentation. The series will debut on October 14, 2026 exclusively on Disney+. Paul Bettany returns as the titular character, closing out the story that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.

The announcement came directly from Bettany himself at the event. Disney is calling this show the final part of the WandaVision trilogy, giving fans a clear endpoint for this specific corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

James Spader Returns as Ultron With a Bigger Role

James Spader is coming back to voice Ultron for the first time since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. This is not just a small cameo appearance. Bettany confirmed that the story largely focuses on the relationship between Vision and his creator.

“It’s largely that story. The story largely revolves around that relationship. And it’s real fun. It’s a fun start. I’m very, very excited.” – Paul Bettany on the Ultron-Vision dynamic

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany called Spader’s performance “delicious” and shared that Ultron is “so funny in this.” The two actors worked closely together on the show, and Bettany said he loved every part of it.

The showrunner is Terry Matalas, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard season 3. Marvel chief Kevin Feige is a big fan of Matalas’ work, which helped bring him on board for this project.

What the Show Is About

VisionQuest follows the White Vision character. Fans last saw him at the end of WandaVision when the original Vision gave him all his memories. White Vision then flew away, leaving viewers wondering where he went.

Bettany explained at New York Comic-Con that White Vision received all the memories from inside the Hex, not just the ones shown on screen. This sets up a character who has all of Vision’s history but none of the emotions that came with those experiences.

A teaser trailer shown at the Disney Upfront event featured Bettany’s character in his human form. He watches memories from his old life, trying to regain his humanity. He admits that he has none of the feelings his predecessor had, which is where Ultron comes in to taunt him.

The show takes a big swing with its presentation style. Bettany said it feels like it belongs in the same world as WandaVision but does something completely different. He has seen cuts of the show and said they keep “getting better and better” as the effects work gets finished.

Episode Count and Cast Details

VisionQuest will have eight episodes. The showrunner Terry Matalas designed each episode to feel like a different kind of film, similar to how WandaVision changed TV styles each week.

The cast includes several new and returning faces beyond Bettany and Spader. Todd Stashwick plays Paladin, a mercenary who has connections to Vision’s technology. Faran Tahir returns as Raza, the Ten Rings leader from the first Iron Man movie in 2008. Diane Morgan and Emily Hampshire are also part of the cast. James D’Arcy, who played Edwin Jarvis in Agent Carter, joins as well.

How VisionQuest Connects to WandaVision and Agatha All Along

Disney is marketing VisionQuest as the third and final chapter of a trilogy. WandaVision started the story in 2021. Agatha All Along, which came out in 2024, continued the witches’ side of the story with Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness. Now VisionQuest will wrap up the story from Vision’s point of view.

By the time the show airs, five years will have passed since WandaVision first came out. The show picks up after the events of both previous series, tying together loose ends from WandaVision while moving forward from where Agatha All Along left off.

Bettany described the show as both a proper ending to the trilogy and a standalone story that new viewers can enjoy. “It manages to feel very much like it’s somehow a part of that world,” he said, while still doing its own thing.

Release Information for Global Audiences

VisionQuest will be available on Disney+ starting October 14, 2026. For viewers in the United States, the show drops on that date. United Kingdom and Canada viewers get the same day release. Australia and India also receive the series on October 14, 2026, as Disney+ typically releases global content simultaneously.

It remains unclear if the show will drop all eight episodes at once or follow a weekly release schedule. Disney+ has used both methods for different Marvel shows. WandaVision came out weekly, while Agatha All Along also followed a weekly pattern.
