The penultimate episode of Apple TV+ horror-comedy Widow’s Bay dropped on June 10, 2026. Titled “Emergency Shelter,” the episode ends with a major reveal. Mayor Tom Loftis and his team learn that a sweet, elderly member of the community is the last descendant of the town’s cursed founder. To break the curse for good, they must decide if they are willing to kill her. The show has a strong cast led by Matthew Rhys. Here is the complete list of actors and characters appearing in episode 9.
Matthew Rhys as Tom Loftis
Matthew Rhys plays the main character, Mayor Tom Loftis. He is a widower trying to fix his struggling island town. At first, Tom did not believe in the curse. After facing a Sea Hag in episode 3, he changed his mind. Now, he is doing everything to save the town and his teenage son, Evan. Rhys is known for his lead role in The Americans and the Perry Mason series.
Kate O’Flynn as Patricia
Kate O’Flynn plays Patricia, Tom’s smart and unusual assistant. The town sees her as an outsider because they think she lied about a killer chasing her in high school. In episode 9, Patricia finds a clue that the Warren bloodline did not end with the town’s founder. She strongly argues against killing an innocent person to end the curse. O’Flynn is a well-known stage actress who won a Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for the play Port.
Stephen Root as Wyck
Stephen Root plays Wyck, a believer in the town’s supernatural history. He runs a conspiracy website and first convinces Tom that the curse is real. Wyck sides with Tom in the debate about killing Ruth. He says if he were the last descendant, he would end his own life to save others. Root is a very busy actor. Fans know him from Office Space, Get Out, Succession, Barry and King of the Hill.
Betty Gilpin as Sarah Westcott Warren (Flashback)
Betty Gilpin appears in the opening flashback of episode 9. She plays Sarah Westcott Warren, the wife of the town’s founder Richard Warren. The scene shows Sarah trying to leave the island on a boat with her children. One child, Frances, falls into the water. Sarah throws a box to help her float. The boat disappears, but Frances survives and floats back to land. This reveal proves the Warren bloodline continued. Gilpin is famous for her roles in GLOW and Nurse Jackie.
Kevin Carroll as Sheriff Bechir
Kevin Carroll plays Sheriff Bechir Clemmons. He survived an attack by the Boogeyman in the previous episode while helping Patricia. Bechir wants to leave the island with his pregnant wife, Chelle. The storm forces them to stay at the town hall for shelter. Carroll has appeared in The Walking Dead and The Leftovers.
K Callan as Ruth
K Callan plays Ruth, Tom’s kind elderly secretary. She has been a supporting character throughout the season. Episode 9 reveals that Ruth is the last living descendant of Frances Warren. This means the curse on the town will only end when Ruth dies. This creates a difficult choice for Tom, Patricia and Wyck. Callan is known for playing Martha Kent in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She also appeared in the first Knives Out movie.
Kingston Rumi Southwick as Evan Loftis
Kingston Rumi Southwick plays Evan, Tom’s teenage son. Evan was born on the island and feels bored with the lack of things to do. Tom promised to take him off the island for the first time. The curse makes that promise hard to keep. Southwick recently played the son of Jake Gyllenhaal’s character in Presumed Innocent.
Dale Dickey as Rosemary
Dale Dickey plays Rosemary, another employee in the mayor’s office. At the end of episode 9, she is the one who delivers the shocking news to Tom, Patricia and Wyck. She uses a family tree to show that Ruth is Frances Warren’s last living relative. Dickey has appeared in Hell or High Water, Winter’s Bone, Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian.
Jeff Hiller as Dale
Jeff Hiller plays Dale, another worker in the mayor’s office. He is part of the town’s small staff. Hiller received an Emmy nomination for his role in Somebody Somewhere.
Nancy Lenehan as Gerrie
Nancy Lenehan plays Gerrie, an employee who knows a lot about the island’s history and stories. Lenehan has worked as an actor since 1980. She appeared in Catch Me If You Can and Battle of the Sexes.
