The final season of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War has officially started. Titled The Calamity, this fourth and last part brings the epic story of Ichigo Kurosaki to its closing chapter. Episode 1 premiered on July 25, 2026, and now fans are looking forward to Episode 2, which drops on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The season kicked off with high expectations. The first three episodes even had special theatrical screenings in the United States and Japan before the streaming release. Now the weekly simulcast is in full swing, and the action is only getting bigger.

What Happened in Episode 1
Episode 1 set the stage for the final battle. The season adapts the last chapters of Tite Kubo’s original manga, covering roughly chapters 657 through 686. The story picks up after Yhwach, the Quincy King, broke through the Royal Palace and shattered Squad Zero’s powerful Bankai.
Ichibe Hyosube, the leader of Squad Zero, asked Ichigo and his allies to protect the Soul King. But Yhwach tricked Ichigo into striking down the Soul King with his own sword. The death of the Soul King caused the Three Worlds to start collapsing. Distortions and signs of destruction appeared everywhere.
The Thirteen Court Guard Squads and the surviving Quincies joined forces to head for the Royal Palace. But the palace had been taken over by the Wandenreich and transformed into the Wahr Welt. The Royal Guard waits inside, and fierce battles broke out throughout the Wahr Welt. Ichigo also confronted Uryu Ishida to learn his true intentions. Meanwhile, Yhwach awakened his full power, The Almighty.
What to Expect in Episode 2
Episode 2 will continue the intense battles inside the Wahr Welt. The Soul Reapers and Quincies clash in a final battle as Yhwach breaches the Royal Palace. With the Soul King fallen, reality continues collapsing. Former enemies must unite to storm the transformed palace and face a threat to all existence.
Ichigo Kurosaki and his crew are reunited as they take on Yhwach and Askin Nakk Le Vaar. Ichigo teams up with Orihime and Chad, while Yoruichi goes head-to-head with Nakk Le Vaar, a formidable foe who puts the group at a disadvantage.
