The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards became the stage for a historic moment in Korean cinema as real-life couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin both won top acting honors in a celebrated night for film. The awards ceremony, held on November 19, 2025, at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, was hosted by Han Ji Min and Lee Je Hoon. The big winner of the evening was Park Chan-wook‘s film No Other Choice, which took home six awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

No Other Choice Dominates the Awards

The black comedy thriller No Other Choice was the clear standout of the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, securing the most wins with a total of six trophies. The film won the night’s most prestigious award, Best Picture. Its director, the acclaimed Park Chan-wook, added another Best Director award to his collection for this project, which is also South Korea’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards.

The film’s success extended across multiple categories. It earned the Best Music award for Jo Yeong Wook and the Best Technical Achievement award for Cho Sang Gyeong’s costume work. The film’s cast was also recognized, with Lee Sung Min winning Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie.

A Historic Night for Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin

The most talked-about moment of the ceremony was the joint triumph of married stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. Son Ye Jin won the Best Actress award for her performance in No Other Choice. Her husband, Hyun Bin, won the Best Actor award for his leading role in the biographical period drama Harbin, where he portrayed independence activist General Ahn Jung-geun.

This marked the first time in the award show’s history that a married couple has won the top acting prizes in the same year. Their successful night did not end there; both stars also received Popular Star Awards, which are voted on by fans. They shared this popularity honor with Girls’ Generation’s Lim Yoona and GOT7’s Park Jinyoung.

During his emotional acceptance speech for Best Actor, Hyun Bin spoke directly to his family.

“To my wife Ye-jin, who gives me great strength just with her existence, and our son, I want to say I love you so much,” he said from the stage.

Celebrating New Talent and Supporting Roles

The awards also highlighted rising stars and powerful supporting performances. The Best New Actor award went to Ahn Bo Hyun for his role in the romantic comedy Pretty Crazy. The Best New Actress award was given to Kim Doyeon for her work in Idiot Girls and School Ghost: School Anniversary.

The award for Best Supporting Actress was claimed by Park Ji Hyun for her performance in the erotic mystery thriller Hidden Face. In her acceptance speech, she shared her long-term connection to the Blue Dragon stage.

“I first came to this stage about seven years ago as a Best New Actress nominee,” Park Ji Hyun recalled. “I realized just how much I truly love cinema. I used to think I was not someone who cared much about awards, but now that I have received one, I find myself wanting more.”

The Best New Director award was given to Kim Hye Young for the film It’s Okay!.
