The awkward tension between an actor and a reporter, complicated by hidden identities, reached a breaking point in the latest episode of Nice to Not Meet You. Episode 10, which aired on December 2, 2025, centered on a disastrous plan to force a confession that instead created one of the most cringeworthy dates in recent K-drama memory. The episode followed actor Lim Hyun-jun as his secret online connection with reporter Wi Jeong-sin became harder to manage, pushing him into a risky and ultimately failed scheme with her best friend.
Hwa-young and Hyun-jun Form a Secret Pact
The trouble began when Jeong-sin, still unaware that the actor she frequently clashes with is also her anonymous chat partner “Melo Master,” decided to avoid him. For an interview with his production team, she sent her friend and colleague, Yoon Hwa-young, in her place. A perceptive Hwa-young immediately noticed Hyun-jun’s disappointment and correctly guessed he has feelings for Jeong-sin.
Seeing an opportunity, Hwa-young proposed a deal. She offered to help Hyun-jun win Jeong-sin’s heart. In return, she wanted his help in reconnecting with her own longtime crush, Lee Jae-hyung, who happens to be Jeong-sin’s boss and current object of affection. The two formed an unexpected alliance, with their first mission being to get Hyun-jun and Jeong-sin in the same room outside of work.
“She point-blank asks Hyeon-jun if he likes Jeong-sin. She asks him to team up with her to stop Jeong-sin and Jae-hyeong getting together.”
A Set-Up Interview and a Dangerous Stunt
The pair’s efforts started on the set of Hyun-jun’s drama, Kang Pil-gu. Hwa-young manipulated schedules to ensure Jeong-sin was assigned to cover the shoot. During the interview, a determined Hyun-jun tried desperately to impress the uninterested reporter. In a risky move, he insisted on performing his own stunts after learning the stuntman had a twisted ankle.
The plan to showcase his dedication worked momentarily, as Jeong-sin was drawn into the intensity of the scene. However, it backfired physically when Hyun-jun injured his own ankle and had to be rushed to the hospital. From his hospital bed, he and Hwa-young argued about his failure to confess his feelings, leading her to devise a new, more direct strategy.
The Disastrous Double Date at the Movies
Hwa-young’s new plan involved a movie ticket. She gave Jeong-sin a ticket, pretending it was to make up for a previous dinner invitation she had interrupted. The seat, of course, was strategically placed next to one purchased for Hyun-jun. The goal was to force a private moment where he could finally reveal his true identity.
The plan failed spectacularly. Jeong-sin arrived at the theater and found herself sitting directly between Hyun-jun and, on her other side, Jae-hyung—who had unexpectedly decided to see the same film with his mother. The situation created an unbearably awkward “double date” scenario, with Jeong-sin trapped between the man she’s secretly chatting with online, the colleague she admires, and his parent.
The tension was broken when Hyun-jun received an urgent call and had to briefly step out of the theater. By the time he returned, Jeong-sin had already left, citing urgent work. The perfect setup for a confession ended without a single meaningful word exchanged between them.
Unwanted Family Drama on Set
Hyun-jun’s personal and professional life collided in another uncomfortable way by the episode’s end. His manager, Mr. Hwang, and the drama’s director, Park Byung-gi, delivered shocking news. Byung-gi, a huge fan of a veteran actress, had promised her a role in Kang Pil-gu without realizing she was Hyun-jun’s mother, Ae-suk.
Hyun-jun was furious when he found out his mother would be joining the cast, throwing a fit at the news. This development promises to add a new layer of comedic tension to his already stressful work environment, as he must now act alongside a family member he apparently has a complex relationship with.
Shifting Alliances and a Cliffhanger Finale
The episode concluded with the four main characters’ paths crossing yet again. After the movie theater disaster, Jae-hyung, Jeong-sin, Hyun-jun, and Hwa-young all encountered each other on the street. Jae-hyung asked Jeong-sin to join him for tea. Not to be left out, both Hyun-jun and Hwa-young immediately invited themselves along, creating an incredibly tense four-person outing that closed the episode.
This scene sets the stage for more direct confrontation and misunderstanding, as the secret pact between Hyun-jun and Hwa-young hangs in the balance.
