Maxine Simmons’s world, already chaotic, is turned completely upside down. In the sixth episode of Palm Royale Season 2, a new twin sister arrives at her door just as an old enemy threatens to kill her. This bombshell, titled “Maxine Finds Herself,” aired on December 17, 2025, on Apple TV+.
The episode mixes high-stakes spy missions with shocking family drama. Kristen Wiig pulls double duty as both Maxine and her sister, Mirabelle. Meanwhile, Norma Dellacorte makes a vengeful return, a Russian spy hunt unfolds at the club, and Linda Shaw finds a new life across the globe. The explosive ending leaves one character dead and everyone wondering who pulled the trigger.
A New Sister and a New Mission
The drama starts with a mission. FBI agent Virginia tasks Maxine with a critical job: find a suspected Russian mole operating through the Palm Royale club. To do this, Maxine must play nice with her ex-husband, Douglas, a partnership filled with old grievances and fresh anger.
“Virginia informs Maxine that this is much bigger than Pinky and that the orders to find the Soviet in Palm Beach are coming from on high, from J. Edgar Hoover himself.”
Maxine returns home from this tense briefing to the shock of her life. She finds a woman who looks exactly like her sleeping on her couch. This is Mirabelle, her previously unknown twin sister. Mirabelle explains she was raised by their parents, a fact that stings Maxine. Even Robert, Maxine’s close friend, is stunned by the resemblance.
While Maxine grapples with this new family, Evelyn Rollins is making life difficult. Angry that Maxine’s actions caused the government to freeze her assets, Evelyn bans Maxine from entering the Palm Royale. This forces Maxine to hold secret meetings with Evelyn in the dressing rooms at Ceil’s boutique to plan their next move.
Twisted Loyalties and Secret Identities
Mirabelle’s arrival creates confusion and complicates every relationship. Douglas, still tangled in his affair with manicurist Mitzi, mistakes Mirabelle for Maxine. In a moment of regret, he confesses that he still has feelings for his ex-wife, not knowing he’s talking to the wrong sister. This leads to a romantic encounter between Douglas and Mirabelle, who does not correct his mistaken identity.
Meanwhile, Robert’s own secret life hits trouble. His old flame, the con man Reginald, is back in town. Robert shares a kiss with him, but the moment is witnessed by Tom, Robert’s current boyfriend and an FBI agent. In a panicked mistake, Robert reveals to Reginald that Tom is gay, a secret that could destroy Tom’s career and life. This creates a dangerous conflict of interest, as Tom was the agent who originally arrested Reginald.
Robert soon gets another worrying call. It’s from Norma Dellacorte, the woman everyone believes is missing. Norma reveals her true identity as Agnes and declares she is coming back to Palm Beach for revenge against Maxine. She is furious that her family mansion has been turned into a nightclub.
A Deadly Fight and a Stolen Ledger
The mission to find the Russian mole centers on getting a ledger from mobster Pinky. Maxine and Evelyn believe it holds the financial proof they need. They devise a plan to steal it while Pinky is in the sauna, using Douglas as a distraction.
However, the ledger isn’t with Pinky. It is in the possession of his partner, Raquel. Mirabelle, eager to help her new sister, confronts Raquel. The encounter turns violent, exploding into a lengthy, destructive fight that races through the Dellacorte mansion. Speaking in Russian, Raquel reveals her own connections, leading Mirabelle to believe she has found the mole. Mirabelle wins the brutal fight, ties Raquel up, and escapes with the ledger.
At the same time, Robert learns a dark truth about Mirabelle. Tom gives him a file showing that Mirabelle is not a long-lost relative but a con artist with a criminal past. Robert realizes Maxine could be in danger from both her new sister and the vengeful Norma.
A Sisterly Bond and a Tragic End
Despite Robert’s warning, Maxine chooses to trust Mirabelle. In a tender moment, Mirabelle explains that a handsome con man told her about her twin and she simply wanted to meet her. She gives Maxine the stolen ledger, finally delivering the proof needed for the mission. She also confesses the truth about her encounter with Douglas, revealing that he still loves Maxine.
This heartfelt exchange is short-lived. Maxine leaves to think, and Mirabelle stays behind by the pool for a late-night swim. The episode ends with a gunshot. Maxine, Robert, and Virginia arrive to find Mirabelle face down in the pool, shot and killed. Standing nearby is Evelyn Rollins.
The cliffhanger leaves a pressing question: Who killed Mirabelle? The evidence points to Evelyn, who was seen at the scene and has a clear motive to remove Maxine from her path. However, it could also be Norma carrying out her threat, or even Raquel seeking revenge. A grim possibility is that the shooter mistook Mirabelle for Maxine, making her an accidental victim.

Where to Watch and What’s Next
Palm Royale Season 2 is streaming exclusively on Apple TV+. New episodes are released every Wednesday. The season is scheduled to conclude with its tenth episode on January 14, 2026.
The fallout from Mirabelle’s death will dominate the final four episodes. If people believe the body in the pool is Maxine, it could allow the real Maxine to operate from the shadows while Norma, Pinky, and Raquel believe their problem is solved. However, with Evelyn as the prime suspect, Maxine’s alliance with her is likely shattered. Robert must also deal with the fallout of exposing Tom’s secret, all while the hunt for the real Russian mole continues.
