Fans can finally mark their calendars. Netflix has officially shared the first poster for the beloved reindeer Tony Tony Chopper and set the return date for One Piece Season 2. The streaming service confirmed that the next chapter of the live-action adventure arrives on March 10. The reveal of Chopper’s key art poster has ended a long wait for news about the Straw Hat Pirates’ next voyage.

This poster release is part of a larger wave of updates from Netflix and the show’s cast. During Jump Festa 2025, a major event for manga and anime fans, the team shared a behind-the-scenes look at how the new season was made. The cast also celebrated Chopper’s birthday in the middle of the holiday season, with actor Mackenyu, who plays Zoro, sending good wishes by video from Cape Town, where work on Season 3 is already happening.

The First Look at Live-Action Chopper

The newly released poster gives audiences their first official look at the live-action version of Tony Tony Chopper. He is the crew’s doctor and a fan-favorite character from Eiichiro Oda’s original story. For years, fans have wondered how the cute, talking reindeer would be brought to life after the success of the first season introduced Luffy and his initial crew.

This key art poster was shared to celebrate the character’s birthday. It focuses solely on Chopper, building excitement for his debut. The character is central to the next part of the story, which follows the Straw Hat Pirates as they sail into the legendary and dangerous Grand Line. The poster confirms that the show’s creators are moving forward with introducing more of the series’ unique and imaginative characters.

One Piece Season 2 Release and Story Details

The second season of Netflix’s One Piece has a global release date of March 10. All episodes are expected to drop at once, following the pattern of the first season. The story picks up with the crew—Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji—setting sail for the Grand Line.

The cast and creative team are taking viewers behind the scenes in a new featurette that shares more about how the second season came together.

Their journey will bring “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet”. They will explore bizarre islands and work to find the world’s greatest treasure, the One Piece. This new sea is described as a place where “danger and wonder await at every turn”.

New Cast Members Joining the Adventure

Season 2 will introduce many new faces from the expansive One Piece world. A host of actors have joined the production to play allies and enemies the crew meets in the Grand Line.

New cast members for the second season include Callum Kerr as the marine Smoker and Julia Rehwald as Tashigi. Joe Manganiello takes on the role of the mysterious Mr. 0, with Lera Abova playing Miss All Sunday. Charithra Chandran will appear as Miss Wednesday, and David Dastmalchian is set to play Mr. 3.

Other additions are Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, and Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, who is very important to Chopper’s own story. The season will also feature Brendan Sean Murray and Werner Coetser as the giants Brogy and Dorry, and Clive Russell as Crocus.

Global Voices for a Global Star

A unique aspect of bringing Chopper to life is the global voice cast assembled for the character. Netflix has tapped different voice actors for dubs in languages around the world, ensuring the character resonates with international audiences.

The original Japanese voice of Chopper from the long-running anime, Ikue Otani, will reprise her iconic role for the Japanese dub. This is a special connection to the source material that fans will appreciate.

The list of other global voice actors includes Mitchiko Tiongson for the Philippines, Meaghan Dendraël for France, Martin Halm for Germany, and Agatha Paulita for Brazil. For audiences in India, the character will be voiced by Swapnil Kumari for Hindi, Mageshwari Dhanashekar for Tamil, and Besta Varada Honeyritha for Telugu.

Work on the Future Has Already Begun

Even before Season 2 premieres, Netflix is planning for more adventures. The cast and creators have confirmed that work on Season 3 is already in progress. Actor Mackenyu sent his birthday message to Chopper from Cape Town, where this early production work is taking place.

Several actors from Season 2 are set to return with larger roles in the third season. Charithra Chandran (Miss Wednesday), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefertari Cobra) will all be back and have been promoted to series regulars.

The show has also announced major new cast members for Season 3. Xolo Maridueña, known for Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle, has been cast as Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s brother. Cole Escola will play the fan-favorite character Bon Clay. Daisy Head has been tapped for the role of Miss Doublefinger, and Awdo Awdo will play Mr. 1.

Matt Owens and Joe Tracz will serve as writers, co-showrunners, and executive producers for the second season, with Tracz and Ian Stokes serving in those roles for the third season.

The series continues to be made in close partnership with the manga’s creator, Eiichiro Oda, who serves as an executive producer.
