The new season of Fallout has arrived, and fans of the games are talking about one special guest. Actor Ron Perlman was at the season two premiere event with the main cast. This has caused a lot of discussion online about who the famous actor could be playing in the post-apocalyptic story. Many people watching the trailer believe his voice is connected to a super mutant character, leading to theories he might be playing the legendary Marcus, a fan-favorite super mutant from the games.

Fans online have been sharing their best guesses about Perlman’s role. One popular idea is that he might play a character from the past before the bombs fell. Some suggest he could be the classic television news presenter heard in the openings of several games. Others believe his presence is a nod to his iconic role as the narrator of the game series, famous for the line “Warโ€ฆ war never changes”.

However, the most exciting theory comes from fans who listened closely to the trailer. They point out that the voice for a super mutant character sounds very much like Ron Perlman. The most likely candidate from the games is Marcus. Marcus is a wise and tough super mutant who has been a major character, even a potential companion, in earlier Fallout stories. One fan on social media directly stated, “He’s Marcus from fallout 2, there definitely gonna do some fallout 2 Easter eggs”.

To understand why casting Marcus is a big deal, it helps to know what super mutants are. They are not just mindless monsters. Super mutants are humans who were changed by a virus called the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV). This gives them great strength, green or blue-tinted skin, and makes them unable to get sick from radiation.

The mutation generally cannot be reversed, as once introduced to the subject, FEV automatically corrects any changes to DNA.

There are different groups of super mutants across America. On the West Coast, where Marcus is from, many super mutants are intelligent and can be peaceful. They were created by a being called the Master. Marcus himself has been a sheriff of a town where humans and mutants lived together. This makes him a perfect character to introduce the more complex side of super mutant life to the show’s audience.

Season two continues the stories of Lucy, the Ghoul, and Maximus right after the first season ended. Lucy and the Ghoul are now working together to find her father, Hank MacLean, who has gone to New Vegas. Meanwhile, Maximus is back with the Brotherhood of Steel, but the group is not united. Different chapters from across the country are meeting, and there is clear tension and a potential for conflict among them.

The season also introduces a major villain from the games: Robert Edwin House, played by Justin Theroux. He is the brilliant and ruthless founder of RobCo Industries who controls New Vegas. The show reveals a dangerous new side to him, showing flashbacks where he tests a powerful brain control chip on people. Interestingly, Hank MacLean is also seen using and trying to improve this same technology in the present day.

This mind control device has a history in the games. In Fallout 3, a minor villain known as the Surgeon used similar chips in experiments. Some fans now wonder if Hankโ€™s character might be connected to or even be the show’s version of the Surgeon, combining his Vault-Tec knowledge with House’s old technology.

The second episode of the season, “The Golden Rule,” spends time showing Maximus’s past. We see him as a young boy in Shady Sands, the city that Hank MacLean destroyed with a nuclear bomb. The emotional scene of his family trying to save him contrasts sharply with who he has become: a numb and violent soldier for the Brotherhood, completely under the control of Elder Quintus.

The Brotherhoodโ€™s new base is revealed to be the famous Area 51, adding the show’s signature dark humor to its impressive military display. With different chapters gathered, including a representative from the powerful Commonwealth chapter played by Kumail Nanjiani, a struggle for power within the Brotherhood seems certain.

The possible introduction of Marcus through Ron Perlman is more than just a fun cameo. In the games, Marcus represents a path of coexistence. His arrival could offer a different perspective in a world filled with warring factions like the Brotherhood, Caesar’s Legion, and power-hungry individuals like Mr. House and Hank.

The connection between House’s mind control chips and Hank’s experiments suggests a major plot for the season. Lucy’s mission to stop her father has now become a race to prevent him from perfecting a technology that could rob people of their free will. This theme of control versus individuality is central to the journeys of Lucy, Maximus, and the Ghoul.

With new threats emerging and legendary game characters possibly entering the story, Fallout season two is building on the solid foundation of its first season to dive even deeper into the complex and dangerous world fans love.
