Get ready for a big year of TV and movies. 2026 is bringing back some of the biggest shows and expanding favorite stories onto the big screen. From doctors in Pittsburgh to spies on a global chase, here are the shows and movies you need to know about.

The Pitt Season 2: A New Shift Begins

The Pitt, the Emmy-winning medical drama, comes back for its second season on Thursday, January 8, 2026, on HBO Max. The show will follow a new shift in real time, with every episode covering one hour of a hectic Fourth of July weekend at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.

The new season sees big changes for the staff. Noah Wyle returns as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, who is preparing to go on a sabbatical. Stepping in is a new attending physician, Dr. Al-Hashimi, played by Sepideh Moafi, who has ideas for improving the department. Meanwhile, Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) is back for his first shift after completing rehab, a return that Robby isn’t exactly happy about.

“Sheโ€™s just covering while I go on my little sabbatical,” Robby insists in the trailer, though Dr. Al-Hashimi seems to have bigger plans.

Other returning cast members include Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans and Shawn Hatosy as Dr. Abbot. Hatosy will also step behind the camera to direct an episode this season. The new season will also feature a significant expansion in accessibility; all episodes will be available to stream in American Sign Language (ASL) starting on the premiere date.

The Night Agent Season 3: A Global Manhunt

Netflix’s hit spy thriller The Night Agent returns for its third season on February 19, 2026. Gabriel Basso is back as Night Agent Peter Sutherland, who is thrown into a dangerous international mission.

This season, Peter is called to track down a young Treasury agent who has fled to Istanbul with sensitive government information after killing his boss. His investigation into a dark money network puts him on a collision course with a relentless journalist, played by new series regular Genesis Rodriguez. The mission will also introduce new threats, including a top hitman known as “The Father,” played by Stephen Moyer.

The show is expanding its scope, with filming taking place in Istanbul and New York. Creator Shawn Ryan says the new season will bring “new thrills, new worlds, new stunts, new characters, and new adventures”.

The cast sees several changes. While Louis Herthum returns as Jacob Monroe, Peter’s partner from the first two seasons, Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), is not returning. However, Fola Evans-Akingbola returns as Secret Agent Chelsea Arrington, a series regular from Season 1.

The Mandalorian and Grogu: From TV to the Big Screen

In a major shift, the story of Din Djarin and Grogu is moving from Disney+ to movie theaters. The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026, taking the place of a previously planned fourth season.

The film marks a significant change for the characters. Din Djarin, once a lone bounty hunter, is now working as an agent for the New Republic, hunting down dangerous Imperial warlords. Creator Jon Favreau confirmed this character evolution, which began at the end of Season 3.

“I donโ€™t want to go out there and just be a hired gun. I want to work for the good guys,” Din said, setting the stage for his new role.

The movie will also show a more capable Grogu. The young Force-user is expected to display significantly expanded abilities, moving beyond his previous vulnerabilities. Reports also suggest he may get new gear and even learn to swim. The film will feature a new dynamic, with Jeremy Allen White playing Rotta the Hutt, the adult son of Jabba, who may partner with Din for parts of the adventure.

The Boys Season 5: The Final Battle

The critically acclaimed and brutal superhero series The Boys will begin its fifth and final season on April 8, 2026. The show, starring Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, follows a group of vigilantes fighting against corrupt superheroes.

The upcoming season follows a dramatic fourth season where Butcher was dealing with a serious health diagnosis, leading to what Urban jokingly called his “General Hospital season” with less physical action. That lack of action apparently left Urban wanting more, which led him to take on the role of Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat II. Fans can expect the final chapter to bring the conflict between The Boys and Vought International to an explosive conclusion.

Beyond these five, 2026 is packed with returning favorites and exciting new projects across many streaming services and networks.
