The battle for New York City escalates with a powerful new ally. Marvel has released the first teaser trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, officially confirming the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and setting a premiere date of March 24, 2026, on Disney+. The footage shows Matt Murdock forming a resistance against Mayor Wilson Fisk, with the super-strong private detective stepping back into the fray to help.

Breaking Down the Season 2 Teaser Trailer

The new trailer, set to music, provides a fast-paced look at the escalating conflict in Hell’s Kitchen. It confirms that Wilson Fisk, now fully entrenched as the Mayor of New York, continues his crusade against vigilantes. A missing person’s poster suggests Matt Murdock has vanished from public view, but his alter ego, Daredevil, is actively sabotaging Fisk’s operations from the shadows.

The biggest moment is the clear introduction of Jessica Jones. In one scene, she uses her signature super strength, hitting an opponent with a large metal door. In another, she delivers a classic, sarcastic line to an injured Matt Murdock, stating, “I hope you can walk, because I’m not carrying you,” before helping him up. The trailer also offers a glimpse of other key characters, including a brief shot of Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson, whose fate was left in question, and Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye, who flashes a menacing smile. A new character, Matthew Lillard’s Mr. Charles, is also shown, hinting at a powerful new player in Fisk’s political world.

Key Cast Members Returning and Joining the Fight

The series features a large ensemble cast reprising their roles from the first season and the original Netflix series.

The main returning characters include:

  • Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil
  • Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin
  • Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page
  • Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter / Bullseye
  • Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson
  • Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn
  • Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk

Krysten Ritter’s return as Jessica Jones marks a significant milestone, as she is the first major hero from the other Netflix Marvel series, like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, to officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline. New to the cast is Matthew Lillard, playing the influential Mr. Charles, who is described as a political power player and an antagonist for Fisk.

The Story and Production Background for Season 2

The official description for the season states: “Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hellโ€™s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpinโ€™s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild”.

Executive producer Brad Winderbaum explained that with Fisk acting as mayor, he enters “a new class of power players on the international stage,” which is where Matthew Lillard’s character comes into play. The season will explore the high-level politics between them while Daredevil fights the street-level battle.

The show is led by showrunner Dario Scardapane, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead serving as the lead directors. This creative team was brought on during a major overhaul of the series in late 2023, which shifted its tone to better match the original Netflix series and split a planned 18-episode season into two parts. Production for Season 2 took place in New York City from February to July 2025.
