The official trailer for Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s sports drama Peddi is now out, and it shows the actor taking on three different sports in a single film. The trailer arrived on May 18, 2026, after a grand launch event in Mumbai at Jio World Drive.

Ram Charan Shows Three Different Athlete Avatars in the Trailer

The three-minute trailer opens with Boman Irani’s character asking villagers about their favourite sportsperson. Every youngster gives the same answer: Peddi. Whether the sport is cricket, wrestling or running, Ram Charan’s character is the best at all three.

The trailer shows Ram Charan in three distinct physical avatars. As a cricketer, he appears lean and walks into the ground with a cigarette in his mouth and a bat on his shoulder. As a wrestler, he has a heavy, muscular build with a bushy beard, messy hair and a septum ring. The running sequences show him sprinting with high energy across rough village terrain.

One character in the trailer explains, “Peddi isn’t a deity in a temple for these youngsters, sir. He is a deity on the playground.” Ram Charan’s character then delivers a powerful line: “The game itself is my arrogance.”

Janhvi Kapoor Plays a Strong-Willed Character in Peddi

Janhvi Kapoor plays Achiyyamma, Ram Charan’s love interest in the film. The trailer shows her as a cheerful yet strong woman. In one scene, a man tells her, “You can’t say such things as a woman, ma’am,” hinting that her character is rebellious and outspoken.

Ram Charan calls her character “a star that fell from the sky” in the trailer. Though her screen time is limited, the brief glimpses of her chemistry with Ram Charan have already caught attention online.

Star Cast Includes Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu and Jagapathi Babu

The film features a strong supporting cast. Shiva Rajkumar plays Gourinaidu, while Divyendu appears as Rambujji, the primary antagonist. His character says chillingly, “He only knows how to play. But we know how to make someone play.”

Jagapathi Babu plays Appalasoori, and Ravi Kishan also appears in a key role. Boman Irani makes a special appearance as the character who asks villagers about Peddi at the start of the trailer.

Peddi Blends Sports Action with Power and Class Struggles

The trailer shows that Peddi is not just a sports film. It mixes themes of class divide, power struggles and systemic oppression with mass masala entertainment elements.

Ram Charan’s character is seen in Delhi with the Red Fort behind him, going through tough times. He wrestles at the national level and eventually represents India on the international stage. The trailer hints at conflict between powerful political figures and people from humble village backgrounds.

In one of the trailer’s strongest moments, Ram Charan declares, “You all think I played. But what I actually did was fight, sir.”

Film Faces Delays Before Locking June 4 Release Date

Peddi has been in the making for two years. The film was first scheduled to release on March 27, 2026, but got postponed. Another April 30 release date was also pushed back. The team finally locked June 4 as the release date earlier in May.

Shooting for Peddi began in November 2024 and wrapped up in April 2026. During the final schedule, Ram Charan suffered an injury above his eye and needed four stitches. He continued shooting without taking a break.

A.R. Rahman Composes Music for This Pan-India Release

A.R. Rahman, the Oscar-winning composer, has created the soundtrack for Peddi, which is rare for a Telugu film. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings (the banners behind Pushpa: The Rise).

Buchi Babu Sana, who previously directed Uppena in 2021, has written and directed Peddi. He describes the film as a “rural, emotional and rustic journey.”

Peddi will release worldwide in cinemas on June 4, 2026, with premiere shows beginning on June 3. The film will be available in multiple languages as a pan-India project.

This marks Ram Charan’s 16th feature film, coming after his 2025 release Game Changer which did not perform as expected at the box office.
