The end is near for Greg Russo at Ludlow College. HBO Max released the preview for Rooster Episode 10, and it shows the bestselling author telling his students it is his final day on campus. The episode arrives on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 10 PM ET.
The preview, which dropped right after Episode 9 aired on May 3, sets up a tense finale. Steve Carell’s character thought he found a new rhythm at the small college. But his plan to secretly save his daughter’s job blew up in his face. Now, he has to say goodbye to the place where he finally started to feel comfortable.
Russo Faces an Uninterested Classroom on His Final Day
The preview video shows Greg Russo standing in front of his class. He tries to give a meaningful speech. He tells the students that this is his last class at Ludlow. But the students do not react the way he hoped. Instead of sadness or applause, they start excusing themselves. They mention other activities and exams they need to get to.

It is a classic Rooster moment. The famous writer wants a big emotional sendoff. The students just want to go study.
Later in the clip, Dylan Shepard (Danielle Deadwyler) tries to comfort Russo. She assures him that the students are actually upset that he is leaving. She says they are just bad at showing it. Russo admits that he is going to miss Ludlow. Looking back at his journey, he came to the school for a simple book reading. Then he took the writer-in-residence job to protect his daughter Katie (Charly Clive) from getting fired. Along the way, he partied with students, dealt with Walt’s (John C. McGinley) long stories, and had a situationship with Cristle (Annie Mumolo) .
Katie Draws a Hard Line With Her Parents
The family drama takes center stage in Episode 10. In the previous episode, Katie learned that her father only took the teaching job to fix her mistake. She was accused of burning down her ex-husband’s residence. Russo stepped in to shield her from the fallout.
When Katie found out, she was furious. She told Russo she would have preferred getting fired over his secret rescue mission.
In the Episode 10 preview, Katie sits down with both of her parents. She does not hold back.
“My life is mine and I need you to stay out of it.”
She makes it clear that she wants no more meddling. She plans to fix her own problems. The preview shows her walking away from them, determined to handle things on her own terms.

Archie Struggles With His Emotions
The love triangle at Ludlow is not over yet. Archie (Phil Dunster) is seen struggling with his thoughts. He has been bottling up his emotions all season. Sunny (Lauren Tsai) looks worried about him. She notices something is wrong.
Mo (Robby Hoffman) directly asks Archie what is troubling him.
But Archie gives a vague answer. He is not ready to open up. The preview then cuts to a scene where Archie is talking to Katie. This hints that he might finally confess his feelings or confront the complicated situation between them. Viewers will have to wait until Sunday to see who Archie chooses in the end.

The Final Advice From Father to Daughter
The preview ends with a quiet moment between Russo and Katie. Despite all the fighting and the secrets, Russo gives his daughter one last piece of advice.
He tells her that she should choose for herself. He says that after everything, it is her life. It is a soft moment that brings the season full circle. He came to Ludlow to save her, but he is leaving by telling her to save herself.
