The stress of the kitchen is coming back for another round. Apple TV has officially renewed Gordon Ramsay‘s intense docuseries Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars for a second season. The show takes viewers inside the high-pressure world of top chefs fighting for the most famous prize in fine dining.
The renewal news broke on May 20, 2026. The second season will have eight new episodes. The series follows chefs at famous restaurants around the world as they try to win, keep, or sadly lose their Michelin stars.
The Show’s First Season Was a Critical Hit
The first season of Knife Edge did very well with critics. It scored a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show also earned a nomination in the Factual Entertainment category at the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards.
Season one traveled across the globe. Viewers saw restaurants in the United States, Britain, Italy, Scandinavia, and Mexico. Some of the featured spots included Aure, which won the fastest Michelin star in Nordic history. Another was Coqodaq, a fried chicken restaurant in New York shooting for a star. The series also followed Caractère, a restaurant from the famous Roux family dynasty.
The show made history by becoming the first production allowed to film with the Michelin organization in its 125 years of existence.
Gordon Ramsay Says the Stakes Are Even Higher Now
Gordon Ramsay serves as an executive producer on the series through his company Studio Ramsay Global. He does not host the show. Instead, Jesse Burgess, the creator of the YouTube food channel Topjaw, handles the hosting duties.
Ramsay spoke about why the second season matters more than ever.
“Now, more than ever restaurants around the world are under enormous pressure to not just strive for perfection, but to survive. The economic tolls of an industry struggling, means the stakes have never been so high. With globally evolving dining standards, Knife Edge reveals the stress, the pressure, the resilience needed to hold your nerve in the battle for greatness, it’s honestly brutal.”
He also praised the passion of chefs working today.
“Personally, I continue to be so proud of the passion in our industry – the drive and ambition in those hungry newcomers, the rising talents and those indomitable chefs all continuing to push for Michelin’s exacting recognition.”
Host Jesse Burgess Returns to Track Elite Chefs
Jesse Burgess will return as the host for season two. He brings his experience from Topjaw, a popular food and travel channel. Burgess shared his excitement about the renewal.
“Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars highlights the incredible stories of the world’s most talented chefs as they strive for the ultimate accolade, while the bar rises every year and their appetite to succeed does not wane. Platforming the people behind these world-class restaurants helps build an understanding and appreciation for what it takes to survive in this remarkable and challenging industry.”
He added, “I’m very proud to be a part of it and we’re looking forward to sharing more in season two on Apple TV.”
Burgess previously talked about how shocking the access was for season one. He said he had a green room with top chefs Clare Smyth and Tom Kerridge while the Apple TV crew filmed around him.
What to Expect From Season 2
Season two will again follow elite chefs over the full Michelin Guide season. Viewers will see restaurant teams trying to earn their first star. Others will fight to keep the stars they already have. Some may even try to reach a second or third star.
The show gives a raw look at what happens behind kitchen doors. It shows the long hours, the small mistakes that ruin service, and the emotional toll of being judged by anonymous Michelin inspectors.
Right now, Apple TV has not announced a release date for season two. The first season is streaming now on the platform. It arrived in October 2025.
