Success in show business often brings new fans and bigger opportunities. But for rapper Reble, her sudden rise in popularity after working on the Dhurandhar: The Revenge soundtrack came with some very strange side effects. The young artist recently opened up about facing bizarre labels like “Antichrist” and hearing rumors that she “sold her soul” to reach the top.
Reble, whose real name is Daiaphi Lamare, spoke with BBC India about how quickly things changed after she stepped into the mainstream. Instead of just celebrating her hard work, some people started pushing wild stories about how she got her fame.
Reble Explains The Real Meaning Behind Her Dark Lyrics
The 24-year-old rapper from Shillong, Meghalaya, addressed one of her own rap lines directly during the interview. The lyric goes: “They think it’s so easy a soul to be sold, all my demons led a moment, now we finna turn gold.” Reble explained that this line works as a double entendre.
“When you get commercial success, everyone is like oh you must have sold your soul. But I am like if it was that easy, everyone else would be doing it. There’s no such demon you pray to, you just have to work to get somewhere.” – Reble, rapper
She clarified that the word “demons” in her songs does not mean actual evil spirits. Instead, she uses it to talk about personal struggles, emotional pain, and the tough moments she faced while growing up. The rapper likes using darker themes in her music because those feelings are real to her.
Reble also mentioned that she gets called “Antichrist” online pretty often. Her response to those comments was short and direct. “I gave it a dark twist, giving it that demon feel and that soul because I do get a lot these Antichrist accusations and I am just like dude, that thing is not even real,” she added.
From Engineering Student To Bollywood’s New Rap Voice
Before people knew her as Reble, she was studying for a BTech degree at Visvesvaraya Technological University. She eventually left the corporate path behind to chase music full-time. Reble first started performing in 2018 under the name “Daya” and worked with Symphonic Movement. In 2019, she changed her stage name to Reble and dropped her first single, Bad.
She grew up listening to rock, hip-hop, and indie music from a very young age. By the time she was 10, Reble had already started writing her own rhymes. She has named artists like Linkin Park, Eminem, and Andre 3000 as major influences on her sound.
In November 2022, Reble released her debut EP called Entropy. The project had four tracks and helped her build a small but loyal fanbase in the independent music scene. Her big break into movies came in 2025 with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and then Dhurandhar.
The song Aari Aari from Dhurandhar: The Revenge became a major talking point. The track also featured Navtej Singh Rehal, Jasmine Sandlas, Khan Saab, and Sudhir Yaduvanshi. The music was composed by Shashwat Sachdev, while the lyrics came from Irshad Kamil and Bombay Rockers.

Reble Stays Picky About Projects Despite Growing Fame
Even with more offers coming her way, Reble said she does not just say yes to everything. She views working on film music as a form of creative experimentation rather than a sell-out move. “If I‘m singing for a film, I enjoy that. But I’m picky about the projects I take,” she told BBC India.
The rapper also spoke about what it feels like to represent Northeast India on a national stage. She believes artists from her region do not get the same level of visibility as performers from other parts of the country. “Coming out from a region like that, I feel very proud,” she shared.
Reflecting on her personal journey, Reble admitted she often felt like a misfit while growing up. She spent years in boarding schools and struggled to fit in socially. “Rap gave shape to emotions I did not know how to organise earlier. It became the perfect medium to express this feeling of being a misfit,” she said.
When asked about the biggest lesson she has learned so far, Reble kept it simple. “Consistency is key,” she said. “If you‘re not good at something, you need to get better. Be realistic enough to know how bad you are.”
