Global Release Time and Streaming Platforms

Episode 4 of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 (Japanese title: Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru) comes out on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The series follows a weekly schedule with new episodes arriving every Wednesday.

Prime Video is the exclusive streaming home for the series worldwide. The platform releases new episodes at midnight Pacific Time. This translates to early morning hours in most parts of the United States and later the same day in Europe and Asia.

For viewers in Japan, the episode first airs on TV Asahi’s nationwide network in the IMAnimation W block, as well as on BS Asahi and AT-X. The streaming on Prime Video begins at 12:15 AM JST on July 9, immediately after the television broadcast. Currently, there is no official information about a dubbed version for the new season.

The complete second season premiered on July 8, 2026. The episode count for season 2 has not been confirmed yet.

What Happened in Episode 3

The third episode introduced a magical barrier that blocked all forms of magic inside the academy. A wolf-like creature appeared inside the barrier and started causing trouble.

Beryl Gardenant and Ficelle Harbeller, two highly skilled magic users, went to investigate the situation. At the same time, another monster was attacking students in a different part of the school. The students, who were not ready for such a fight, knew they could not just sit around remembering what had happened.

They joined together and fought against the monster, winning the battle. Beryl and Ficelle fought a different monster entirely. They later found out that a careless teacher had broken the spell responsible for the problem. The fight was long, but Beryl ended it by slashing the monster’s core with his sword.

The episode ended with some connections forming between what the two groups of characters had done.

What to Expect in Episode 4

Episode 4 will explore the results of the recent events at the academy. The academy staff will likely face serious consequences for their carelessness instead of just giving an apology.

Beryl’s story appears to be changing, based on the episode titles. There are hints that the main character might return to his hometown in the next episode. If this happens, viewers will see new scenery and a different tone after the exciting previous episodes.

The students shown this season, like Mewi and her friends, are ready to grow. Their teamwork helped them gain a stronger position, and episode 4 may use this momentum to give them more freedom.
