Bigg Boss 20 has only just begun, but the drama inside the house is already at full volume. On the very first day, television actress Mahhi Vij made a comment that quickly became the talk of the season. She referred to the show as a “divorcee special” and said that for her, fellow contestant Isha Rikhi, and boxing champion Mary Kom, this season marks their “second innings” in life. The comment did not sit well with everyone and led to some tense moments between the contestants.
The new season of the reality show, hosted by Salman Khan, started on September 6, 2026, with 16 contestants entering the famous house. While the first day is usually about introductions and getting to know each other, the conversation quickly turned personal when Mahhi brought up the topic of divorce.
Mahhi’s ‘Divorcee Special’ Comment Creates a Stir
During a conversation with Isha Rikhi, Mahhi was asked about the kind of conversations she enjoys. Mahhi said she likes gossip and made a remark that caught everyone’s attention. She told Isha,
“Tell me who has an affair with whom outside. Teen to divorcee aarakhi hai set pe, tu main aur voh boxer (Mary Kom). Second innings to humari chal rahi hai, divorcee special.”
This translates to: “There are three divorcees on the set – you, me, and that boxer (Mary Kom). Our second innings is already underway; it’s a divorcee special.” Mahhi’s comment came from her own recent experience. She separated from actor Jay Bhanushali in January 2026 after 14 years of marriage. Despite the split, the two continue to co-parent their daughter Tara and remain on good terms.
Isha Rikhi Wants to Be Known for Her Own Identity
When Mahhi asked Isha Rikhi why she decided to join Bigg Boss 20, Isha gave a very clear answer. She explained that she has always kept her personal life private and now wants people to know her for who she is, not for her relationships.
“A lot of people don’t know me because I have always been a little private. I don’t want people to know me as someone’s girlfriend or wife. I want to be known for my name and identity.”
Mahhi pointed out that Isha had been “all over the internet for the past 2 months,” referring to the public attention around her divorce from rapper Badshah. Their private wedding came to light in March 2026, and they announced their separation just days before the show began. However, Isha made it clear that online attention is not the identity she wants to be known for.
Mary Kom Refuses to Discuss Her Private Life
The conversation also turned to Mary Kom, the five-time world champion boxer and Olympic medallist. Mahhi tried to bring up Mary’s divorce, but the boxing champion made it very clear that she did not want to discuss that topic.
Mahhi suggested that talking about an ex-partner does not always have to be negative and that there could be positive things to remember. However, Mary Kom firmly asked Mahhi to leave the subject alone.
Isha Rikhi also grew unhappy with Mahhi repeatedly bringing up the topic. She questioned why Mahhi was so eager to make them discuss something they had clearly chosen to avoid. When Mahhi said, “divorce is not bad,” Isha and Mary asked her not to poke into their personal matters.
Mary Kom was married to Karung Onkholer in 2005, and they have four children together. Their divorce was finalized in December 2023 under customary Kom law, and Mary publicly confirmed the separation in 2025.

While Mahhi was making headlines inside the house with her “divorcee special” comment, her ex-husband Jay Bhanushali was showing his support from outside. He posted a video of Mahhi’s grand entrance on his Instagram Stories and wrote,
“The Don is in the house @mahhivij. Supporting her new journey All the Best kill it Tara ki mamma.”
Mahhi had previously said that she discussed the opportunity to join Bigg Boss 20 with Jay before making her decision. The two married in 2011 and share a biological daughter, Tara, born in 2019. They also fostered two children, Rajveer and Khushi, in 2017. Despite their separation, they remain committed to co-parenting their children.
The first episode of Bigg Boss 20 also featured other contestants including Kanika Mann, Aman Gandhi, Aasif Khan, and Rhiti Tiwari. With Mahhi’s comment already sparking debate and tension, the season promises to deliver the drama that viewers expect from the reality show.
