BTS’s Suga Investigated for Alleged Drunk Driving Incident
On August 7, 2024, Yonhap News reported that BTS’s Suga is under investigation by the police for allegedly operating an electric scooter while intoxicated.
Details of the Incident
The Yongsan Police Station is investigating Suga for violating traffic laws related to drunk driving. In South Korea, electric scooters, also known as electric kickboards, are regulated similarly to cars. They require a license to rent and are closely monitored due to their potential danger.
According to the police, Suga was found alone on the streets on the night of August 6, 2024. He had fallen after using the electric kickboard post alcohol consumption. A patrolling police officer noticed Suga and detected the smell of alcohol. Subsequently, Suga was taken to the nearby police station.
Suga’s Current Status
Suga is currently serving as a social service agent in the military. Social service agents typically have a nine-to-six schedule and can return home after their duties. HYBE has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
