Actress Yoo In Na recently shared a personal story about an online scam she became unknowingly involved in during her early 20s.
Incident Revealed in YouTube Interview
On December 10, Yoo In Na posted a video on her YouTube channel, where she interviewed actor Park Jung Min. During their conversation, the actress discussed an unsettling experience from her past, when she was unknowingly the face of a romance scam.
At the time, Yoo worked part-time at a café. She recalled an incident when a man visited the café looking for a woman named Hye Young. When Yoo explained that she wasn’t Hye Young, the man showed her pictures on his phone, all of which were actually her own photos.
Scammer Uses Yoo’s Photos to Deceive
Yoo explained, “What happened was an unknown woman had deceived that man with my Cyworld photos.” The woman behind the scam didn’t stop at catfishing but also tricked the man into sending money. Yoo In Na mentioned that the total damage was around 1-2 million KRW (approximately $760 to $1,520 USD), a considerably larger amount at the time.
Man Contacts Perpetrator After Realizing the Scam
When the man discovered he had been deceived, he immediately confronted the woman. After threatening to report her to authorities, she panicked and returned his money.
Reflecting on the situation, Yoo In Na stated that while the incident was not a pleasant experience, it became one of the more unique stories from her past.
